Having watched the raw version of the interview...

It felt like he was channeling Simone Biles when she pulled out of the Olympics with the "twisties"

Basically saying "yes I'm healthy but right now I feel like I'd only be a detriment to the team if I'm out there"

I would love to see how fast he would be back on the court if the Pelicans were able to stop paying him until he does his job. It's one thing if you're hurt and can't play its another thing if you are "mentally" unable to get back on the court. Sounds like you should sign up for Louisiana's disability program and try living off of that.

Someone tell him that Naruto would never do this when his team needs him. Maybe that might help

You can't be a prisoner of sunk cost.

I sure as shite can be upset that we wasted a 1st round pick to sign a RFA, especially considering we had our own RFA that we let go and we got dog shite for, and Lonzo was the much better player.

IT was stupid then, and it's still stupid. That's not a sunk cost, it was a stupid arse cost at that moment and every moment after. I'm not going to ignore the past. Yes i get it you have to move on, but we can still remember the dumb and wasteful decisions he's made thus far and use them to judge if he should be in charge going forward.

The point is Griff has done more wasting of the warchest than using it over the last 3 years, and i think you are anyone else that wants him in charge of it going forward is crazy. The only positive thing he's done is draft Trey Murphy and trade the Bucks 25 1st for CJ and Larry. And despite everyone hating on CJ, that is still an awesome trade.

I have never been on the Griff bandwagon. he's made some nice moves, and he's made some really dumb moves, like most GMs. I've given him praise when warranted. But i still think he's the wrong person to captain our ship.

think about this, where would we be without the luck of finding Herb and Jose and Naji? and don't say he's responsible for that. finding 2nd round picks and undrafted guys that are capable of playing major minutes for a playoff team is complete luck. Would we have been a play in and playoff team without them last year? would we have been a playin team without them this year?
and i don't blame him for Jax, NAW, Kira, somewhat, b/c i know the draft is a crapshoot as well, but you drafted #8, #17 and #13, and you really have not a damn thing to show for it b/c they have little to no value on the trade market, and they don't play minutes for you.
The #8 and #13 picks in the draft historically say that you have about a 35% chance of drafting someone who's either a straight bust or is a bench player, meaning they aren't in your normal rotation by year 4. at #17 is more like 50%. He's made 5 picks, and 3 of them are in that bust/bench role, 1 of them is going to be a starter, and we'll see with Dyson but i think Dyson is a rotational player at worst. For some crazy reason, the only guys that have been successful draft picks have been the guys that aren't 19 years old.

Remember, this is the guy that drafted Anthony Bennett. That's what happens when the guy in charge thinks he's the smartest guy in the room at all times.

I'd bet money he demands a trade after this season is over. It's clear he wants out and frankly the Pelicans need to secure a haul for him and continue to build around BI and what's left of CJ.

It boggles the mind how outright delusional the Zion camp would need to be to think this is not massively on their shoulders. Yes, there are front office shortcomings, for sure, but we all saw what this squad was doing without him in the play-in and especially against the Suns first round.

What has changed since then and the revenge series mid-season where he slams that end or game hammer to “avenge” his boys??

Everything since then is on him. We weren’t overusing him. He’s been responsible for staying in shape and coming out of this injury ready to win.

I don’t fricking get it.

Can the Pels be in a "mental battle" to pay Zion?

I cant believe he's healthy enough to play and isn't.

Idk how true this is. If Billy, Trey, Jose, CJ and Nance were on his arse and hammering him about not playing…I think he would fold under the pressure. If those guys aren’t happy and aren’t saying anything, that’s a problem

Do ya'll think Griff just let Zion hang himself?

I mean, he's been taking most of the heat. Maybe, he's like, ok, let this dumb arse talk to the media. His advisors are retarded so he'll become the villain and take some pressure off me.

Well, it's sure as heck taking heat off the medical team, coaching staff, and front office who have underperformed this year. Go figure ....

I honestly do. And probably one of the smarter decisions they have made.

I think so. It’s starting to smell more and more like Griff and the staff are pissed at Zion and themselves for creating this monster and babying him and protecting him. I think they’re over it and are going to let him handle it…which he’s just proven he can’t do

AGAIN, they didn't have to admit it. They could have said he's not 100% and working towards being ready. What part of that are you and the other dude missing?

Both parties have given multiple "reasons" why he's not ready. Conditioning. Metrics. Mental readiness. They are doing it in my opinion because they don't want to come out and say that Zion got lazy and got fat.

quote:

What part of saying just that above is so much worse than saying you're physically ready but still refusing to play?

You are arguing with yourself. I agree that saying the reason you aren't ready is because of a mental hurdle is makes him look way worse.

But, I'm trying to explain that even though their reasoning made it worse, the real reason he isn't playing is because he's overweight.

Skip throwing darts.

I'd bet that's true, but Skip aint' got no sources to state that in a way like he's heard that himself.

Why is that relevant if you're not trading him?
