Forest and rolling hills, barely anyone on the road, cruise set to 58, no stop signs, no open container law in Mississippi, windows down, Skynyrd on

How are the roads? Condition-wise.

tOT would hate it because of all the cyclists.

I miss New Mexico because of this, 2 million people with 78 million acres. Do the math. You could drive/hike/camp and see nobody.
Comparison, Louisiana has 29 mil with 4 million population.

It is!
I am driving to Richmond, VA in a few days to speak and I am thinking about doing 100 miles on The Blue Ridge Parkway. If I do I will report back.

What kind of beer are you drinking?

Yes the Trace is great. We camped at Rocky Springs for many years when the kids were young Very peaceful pace. I drove the entire trace to Nashville once and if you are not in a hurry it is a great trip.

Beautiful drive, closer to Natchez the prettier

I take it up to Muscle Shoals a lot. The only drags are:
- next to no cell service (if you are streaming music or podcasts)
- you’re boned if you break down, especially at night.
I imagine having to drop a dookie on that route would be bad too. Otherwise it’s great.

Depends on the time of year.
I’ve seen RVs on that damn road with 10+ cars trying to pass.

Where I learned to drive at 13.

Just don't speed on that thing. It's hard to stay slow when there is nothing around, but they hide in those pine trees.

This is a man of culture.
One of my favorite drives in the south.

If you are not in a hurry and just want a leisurely drive. I have been using it for years under those circumstances.....love it.
DO NOT SPEED!!!! I haven't driven it in about 3 years and it was always around 50mph and it is a FEDERAL TICKET.

I live 2 miles off the Trace and drive it often between Muscle Shoals and Nashville.
I absolutely love it.

Careful. It’s a federal highway and the fed troopers are assholes they’ll nail you for going 3mph over

Always see turkeys and occasionally some deer on the Trace. Nice drive.

I've drove it one time. My father died in Russellville Alabama in 1979. I took the Trace home to Baton Rouge 44 years ago.

We use to drive it every Thanksgiving week to stay in a cabin at Tishomingo State Park (some of the prettiest trails in Mississippi).
Check out the Wichahpi Commemorative Stone Wall just into Alabama. It is the longest un-mortared wall in North America, and mostly built by one old Indian guy.
Watch out for deer at night!
