I heard it all but still think it’s a toss up between live crawfish, hot dog or cut bream. What works in the jugs for yall?

Live bream has caught the biggest fish for me.

For blues, fresh cut bait or chicken hearts soaked in strawberry jello mix.

Shad caught with a cast net in river / backwater areas. Free bait is nice.

Skipjack is probably the best for blue cats but usually expensive

Cut up one of those big invasive carp. Bloody and the skin keeps the bait on the hook. They dont freeze but usually free and easy to fund.

For flatheads use anything live. Best bait is live baby Buffalo and carp. Catch them in a wooden catfish slat trap with soybean meal bait. Second best is live perch followed by goldfish.

I also use chicken livers because they're cheap and easy to get. Hook them through the main artery to keep them on the hook.

Like you said live crawfish is always a good choice.

Ivory soap coated in strawberry jello powder, for channels. But be careful with the jello powder, it will permanently stain your fishing tuxedo.

Fresh/frozen bluegill caught from the same body of water you're fishing in.

Deer liver is my #1 and beef heart is my #2. Usually fish for blues in brackish water.

Mainly fishing in brackish water I use live bluegill, cut white trout, or live crawfish.

White trout is tied with live bluegill as far as best bait.

Beef heart cut up and soak with some liver. Put a piece of both on the hook.

Catawba worms are deadly too. My grandpa would put a Catawba worm (which is basically a catipillar) or two on the hook then a live bream then if you missed hook up with live bait you had another shot. We always did 20% or better overnight and often on a good night 30% hook ups with fish. If we had checked every few hours would have been better as we always had straighten hooks etc

Red Bar S hotdogs work as good as anything I’ve used and the smell of a hotdog washes off way easier

Off the dock with yo-yos we use the cheap red Frank hot dogs. Just cut them into like 8 slices and thread them thru the skin to the hook

#1 Live Shad, #2 live bream #3 cut shad, #4Catalpa worms.

That’s my list. Would rank catalpas a little higher but they are like finding hens teeth these days.

I've always had good luck catching catfish when baiting with beefstick. That stuff holds together, is oily and stinky, and attracts the catfish.
