A local establishment is giving away lunches for the next month every Friday.

A coworker walked up and complained the restaurant should be giving people the option of breakfast or lunch because he’d rather get free breakfast.

I don’t think petty is the right word for that.

Our church group served a hot breakfast to folks who lost their homes in a tornado a few years ago. One guy complained that we didn't offer vegan options.

Had an employee the other day get into it with a large customer over email. When I finally saw the email chain I told him just to shut down his computer and log off. He said he “didn’t want to let the customer disrespect him.” The self-esteem movement fricked a lot people up.

Back in the day my crew received a $5 a hour raise, which was unheard of. Everyone was excited except one person, who said, "I wish it was $6". I wanted to slap her down the hall.

I helped serve free lunches to impoverished families on Thanksgiving forever ago. A handful of them were absolutely shitty and degrading.

I had my dishwasher replaced, and a nice old man came and installed it. We chatted during the installation. He said that he used to take the broken dishwashers and repair them, then give them away to a community organization to help those struggling. He did it for a couple years. Then he gets a call that the dishwasher he provided broke and he needed to come over and fix it (for free like it was under warranty). Threats ensued with a lot of headaches. He stopped being charitable after that.

I once had an abundance of laptops and desktops that I was upgrading and selling online. I saw a post on Facebook of someone asking about for a cheap laptop for their daughter so I messaged him and said I had one for free. He had no way to come pick it up so I met him at his work and the guy constantly messaged me afterwards saying the laptop was junk.

It was a two year old laptop with an i5 processor, 8GB of RAM and a 240 GB SSD.

I worked at a high tech startup in Texas in the early 90's...before the WWW and .com companies, etc

we had a cafeteria that was kept stocked with free sodas, juices, coffee, tea, milk, etc...whenever you wanted something just walk in and take it...plus, every friday, the company would stock the 2 large fridges with beer, wine coolers, etc

once a month we had a company meeting where the CEO would take any questions from the employees and one time someone actually asked for goat milk and told him that it was unfair that we only had cows milk and not goat milk

Years ago, I was working at a convenience store. We had a deal where you got a free car wash if you bought 8 gallons of gas.

This one old lady bought her gas and ran her car through the car wash, and came back complaining she didn't like the result. She wanted her money back. it took forever for the manager to convince her she couldn't get her money back for a FREE car wash.

That's when I realized that people will not be satisfied, no matter what you do for them.

Try working any service job dealing with the general public and you'll stop being amazed. People are assholes.

People these days are enough to make one loathe humankind.
