A coworker refs and umpires on the side after work for football and baseball seasons. He told me he saw a 10yr old double flex around first and griddy down 3rd to home last week. He tossed the kid and his parents out of the game and off the field. The father was the manager of the team.

I know a poster on this site that cleared out a room in his house to display all his son’s travel ball rings.

Coached my daughter in softball.

8yo girl shows up with still wrapped new bat with $150 price tag on it.

I knew then that baseball/softball parents poisoned that sport beyond recognition.

Travel ball killed it. Youth leagues suck because of it too. frick the Braxtons and Jaxxsons who will never make it and I hope the parents deal with the issues travel ball puts on kids.

Koom bah yah sports created travel ball….. again it is in every competitive youth endeavor

Same with youth football. Some kids play for two teams at one time.

Yeah I’m not a fan of how these kids in youth football are treated like gods and have intros etc. just play the damn game. It’s ruining all sports of how kids are so pumped up and they’re just supposed to be learning and playing a sport.

Cheesy suburbanites with financed wave runners they don't use and travel ball stickers are a really appreciated source of what's gone wrong in this country

I can't wait to see a travel ball mom Stanley mug in the wild, I know it's coming

He said 90% of the dads are dressed the same way. How does that translate to a woman issue?

What Happened?

A combo of Facebook, dads who couldn’t hang up their cleats and moms who turned ballgames into a social event.

You really sound like an idiot here. There’s no such thing as a $500 Marucci bat. A 5’1” 12 year old has nothing to do with how good a player they will be. You say they like to say “Gucci” while you use “cringe”. Quit talking out of your arse.

Facts..you will not make your HS "sport" team if you don't play competitive "sport"..you pull more leg if you play HS "sport"..you have a small chance to get college scholarships in a "sport" if you play HS "sport"...this post is meaningless if you live in tiny town that doesn't hold tryouts

I find it very disturbing how kids nowadays will play the same sport 12 months out of the yr, down to the little ones. That isn’t fun and exciting, it’s cult like. I’m all for letting my kids enjoy extra curricular activities, but no way in hell am I using 100% of my free time so they can play 365.

He likes to say stuff is "Gucci" too. We're talking about a 12 yrs old white kid from a good family.

I don’t know what being white and from a good family has to do with this. I didn’t grow up in Louisiana but went to LSU. Pretty much everyone I met was white and from a private or catholic school and apparently good families. They all had diff slang and accents even kids from the same school.

I could hear two dudes from a New Orleans school and one doesnt have an accent and one is a yat.

Or listen to two dudes from an Acadiana private school, one sounds like a coonass and the other just more of a southern accent.
