I just found it highly-entertaining that so many purported Christians were completely unaware that Jesus and his family were (briefly) political refugees in Egypt.

They went home though, right?

Depends upon how you define "home" and which version of the origin story you accept, but (generally) they did return to modern Israel from Egypt, yes.

But the death of Herod and their subsequent return to the area has not bearing upon their status as political refugees at the time that they left.

No, I do not think that most of the folks trying to enter the US at this time are political refugees. I have NEVER argued otherwise.

Again, I just find it entertaining that so many "Christians" know the Bible so ... poorly.

Is that the case, or were people being confused about your attempt to conflate a true political refugee (i.e. leader of the country trying to murder Him) with someone who is in no way a "refugee" at all (i.e. I want to get to the USA for a fee meal ticket and good job)?

Are we going to repeat the entire thread in which half the forum was completely unaware of the existence of Matthew 2:13-15? (not to mention the non-canonical Gospel of Thomas)

Why not? You repeat your unyielding support of the sexualization of children in multiple threads on a weekly basis.

I don't claim to be a biblical scholar, but I know a false equivalent when I see it. The left really loves to use them.

Since I REPEATEDLY said that most of the people trying to gain access today are NOT "political refugees," it would have taken a true imbecile to be "confused."

Oh, wait ....

Why?

Has this changed?

What's that got to do with anything?

Jesus is the Son of God.

This is a ridiculous comparison.

Are you arguing there aren’t passages just like this one that the right doesn’t whole heartedly reject/ignore? If so, you have some reading to do.

Sometimes it’s even the stupid shite, like his complexion. So many churches are hell bent on maintaining this image of a white guy all over their walls. Dude was a lot of things, white wasn’t one of them. Brown as it gets, their isn’t a respectable clergy, theologian, historian that would argue otherwise.

Why wouldn’t they at least want to get that right?

The original thread was discussing the conflating of "Jesus being a refugee" with "Poor people should be able to pour into the United States." Your "argument" in the thread was essentially serving to continue blurring those lines and, per your usual modus operandi, conflating multiple issues that have no bearing on the topic at hand.

My first thought is imagine the arrogance it takes for the left wing to use Jesus for any of their arguments. They openly hate on religion and anyone who is religious every single day

Most cultures portray Jesus in the image of the dominant local practitioners.

Everybody (on both sides) who talks about Jesus loves to pick and choose, depending on whatever their agenda is.

This is true.

My point exactly. Accuracy isn’t anyone’s priority.

Everybody picks and chooses.

Their Jesus is usually some soyboy, bleeding heart image. Not the guy who survived 40 days and nights in the wilderness.

Are you actually trying to claim that the millions of illegals walking across our open border are political refugees? Is that really your stance? Holy shite.
