And he championed the shite out of Kai. He was Kai’s biggest advocate in the whole thing and never said a word to his detriment.

I thought the Mom was completely full of shite. I do believe he had a fricked up childhood.

Mom was definitely full of shite. I also hated the fricking news reporter guy and the PR people. The news reporter guy just had to make everything about himself. He used the kid and then tried acting like he was his friend or some shite.
Kid was obviously mentally ill. I think one of the other posters nailed it. He likely had split personality and was male prostituting and would snap back to normal and kill the guys he was sleeping with. You don’t hug a guy who raped you the night before and then go back to his house the following day.

Yeah it seems like he 100% fricked that dude on purpose, or at the very least didn’t mind what happened based on the embrace at the train station. Going back to his house was also not smart but for a homeless dude I get him going somewhere that he knows he has a place to stay.
He was definitely mentally unstable and it seems like everybody around him knew it and didn’t seem to care.
His mom also felt completely disingenuous too. I’m sure the truth of his childhood is somewhere in the middle but she didn’t even seem to care that her son was in prison for murder. It’s strange to seem so cavalier about something like that.
This doc was okay. I remember the original smash video but didn’t really remember the murder charge and the rest. But that dude is clearly fricked in the head and was just riding a wave of attention while people have it to him. He didn’t care about money or fake too much, just liked being liked for a change.

Dude was 100% paranoid schizo.
Pretty much impossible to button those types down and understand the behavior. Super common in homeless drifters unfortunately.
Sad for all involved but he is better off in jail.

Tell me about it. Did the Pepsi or Madoff thing really need to have so many episodes?

Just watched it. It was decent
Man, that reporter who got the first interview really had an inflated view on how famous Kai was, like he was almost on the level of an A-list celebrity.
He acted like he had all this insight into who Kai was when in reality, he only met the dude twice

He was ready to ride that bandwagon to the end and looked like he was on harder drugs than Kai was.

yeah these people acted like he had the world in front of him and could have been a star

Watched it this weekend. I'm as big of a true crime fan as anybody, but this one was kind of lame. 90% of the movie was just telling about who he was and that he was really odd. They could have spent 30 minutes on that. Instead they spent an our on it and 20 minutes on the murder and 2 minutes on the trial.

The producer lady who said she did work on the Kardashians really pissed me off. "Oh, I worked on The Kardashians, I can make this kid a star"

I’m sure they look at Bhad Bhabie and see how much she’s made and think that Kai could have been a millionaire, too.
And since they’re mostly leaches (besides the Kimmel show researcher), they think they could have gotten 5-10 percent cuts.

It couldve been made up, but i wouldn't say hugging the guy at the train station is proof it didnt happen.
The dude was still doing him a favor by driving him to the train station and buyign him a ticket. Kai was a weird mofo and i dont think it would be safe to have him on the streets, but he probably belongs in a mental health facility more than a prison.

I just figured he had started selling himself out for sex or had probably been doing it before he went viral. It's not like he was a huge celebrity that the show made him out to be. The whole thing happened in a period of just a few months. He wasn't making any money off of going viral one time, he was still homeless

This is what I had in my head also as I watched it. It isn't that far fetched to think that the combination of mental illness and his new fame could make him kill someone. Imagine being someone like Kai and overnight have everyone competing for your attention. I mean he was still having to ask people to buy him alcohol at several parts after he "became famous".

Yeah Kai got famous right before people started making money through cheap Instagram posts and other social media.
He was also a complete space cadet who had zero attention span and likely couldn’t be corralled into doing those cheap Instagram videos.
His only benefit from fame was getting recognized everywhere and having people buy him drinks. He didn’t have a place to stay, a means of getting anywhere, etc.
