Yeah, wish I could find the old thread about him. I only halfway paid attention to it.

I am just curious if experts in behavioral health could diagnose and thought there was any type of medicine that could have helped him.

Also, I am now curious if on the appeal if they ever looked at his mental health and used that as a defense.

I just know a lot of homeless folks suffer from mental health and not sure anyone/anywhere tries to actually help them.

Yeah, they didn’t really tie it together at the end. I think it’s partially because even the police and jury don’t know for sure.

My guess is that Kai was delusional and thought the lawyer was a sexual abuser of children when he was actually a guy who occasionally hired male prostitutes.

The fact that no one came forward (publicly or in private) to say anything bad about the lawyer in the months after his death is a big strike against Kai’s story. Also his story doesn’t really add up at all. Why would he return to the house of a sexual abuser within hours? Their body language on the surveillance video at the train station is not at all aggressive or combative, the lawyer’s body had no marks of struggle, etc.

My guess is Kai occasionally had sex with men for money. Once or twice in the past, those experiences turned violent.

The guy had a savior complex, which is easy to live out on a daily basis if you’re an ER doctor. Much harder if you’re an alcoholic drifter.

So at times he invented conspiracies in his head or created scenarios where he could be the hero and step in and save the day.

Yeah I think it was pretty clear that the story that Kai gave to police was bullshite. But that seems par for the course as it seems most of what he said is bullshite he made up. Examples: his name isn't Kai, he isn't from Dog town or whatever the frick that is and his parents didn't abuse him in the manner he claimed.

The guy clearly was not right in the head. He was completely unpredictable all the time and didn't seem to know how to fit in socially. He would go from a happy go lucky guy who was super generous even though he didn't have much to a combative mad man determined to "not conform" at the drop of a hat.

It is possible that he has multiple personalities and one of them is a gay hooker and when "Kai" took back over, he felt violated and raped even though the gay hooker personality had sex with the lawyer consensually. The God complex thing could be a third personality.

I agree with you on pretty much everything you said but he definitely did have some traumatic things happen in his childhood.

His cousin who seemed very level-headed said some of the things Kai said were true about being locked in his room and having the sunlight blocked so he would think it’s night time.

I suspect he was a super hyperactive kid and his mom had no idea how to deal with him and did things that were quite cruel, and that she wouldn’t have done those things to a more subdued kid.

Thats definitely possible. I guess I defaulted to not believe him because I found him such an unreliable source. But you are right that the cousin confirms some of it. But his tale of how it went down definitely fits the multiple personality theory. The "non conformist" personality might act up and be crazy and get locked in the room for his own safety and then when the "Kind and Generous" personality comes to surface it seems like he is being tortured for no reason at all.

Also, good documentary to reinforce how scummy Hollywood people are.

While being interviewed (and they knew the whole story), they were more remorseful that they missed their chance on cashing in on Kai vs. maybe that he was suffering from mental issues and it was more important that he could use some help in life (before things like Kimmel and Kardashians).

If they did that, perhaps, Joseph Galley would still be alive and still be able to solicit gay runaways in NYC for cash (funny how the history of him doing that was conveniently omitted from the documentary).

Just finished it.

Mental health man, it’s important. He for sure murdered that guy. This guy was just unwell. Maybe he got a tough upbringing and that messed up his psyche going forward, but he should’ve swallowed his pride and sought help. I don’t believe for a second he was traumatized as a child, he just grew up in a nontraditional home and I know that messes some kids up.

Wild and crazy story, but the Netflix doc sucked. They left out a ton of details and didn't interview Kai. The main contributor to the doc was a newscaster that prolly only met Kai a few times.
