Maui & Kauai - Trip Advice

My wife and I are traveling to Maui and Kauai to celebrate our anniversary. Spending 4 days at each island.
I could use some help with trying to decide what activities are must dos or what can be cut.
Maui:
Laua - shite is expensive! Is it worth it? I'm staying at Hyatt and the Pacific Drums are there. Can i experience it as a bystander?
Road to Hana - wife gets carsick was thinking of scrapping it
Haleakala - Not interested in waking up so early to watch the sunrise. It also seems like it consumes alot of time.
Molokini - Planning to do a snorkeling trip with Maui Snorkel Charters
Beaches - Was going to visit Makena & Little Beach
Golf - Set up to play on Lanai and Kapalua
Massage - was going to do couples massage at Kapalua after round
Dining - Reservations at Mamas already booked. Was going to try some food trucks at the South Maui Gardens
Kauai:
Napali Coast Tour - Should I do the rafting or Blue Hawaiian helicopter tour?
Hikes - Any must do hikes that we should consider?
Beaches - Was going to spend time at Poipu, Ha'eana, Ke'e, Tunnels Beaches
Tubing- Should we do that tubing adventure through the sugar cane farm?
Dining - Any specific recommendations? I'm looking for hole in the wall local favorites.

The 1/2 day Na Pali Coast zodiac raft trip that Captain Andy offers is truly one of the greatest things we have ever done.

We did the Captain Andy's sunset cruise. It was amazing! Not sure what time of year you are going, because certain times the water can get kinda rough.

Not really, most are just buffets and not really that great.
If you want to snorkel or dive while you are out there, I highly recommend LINK
She was awesome when we went out there.
We did part of it, but if your wife gets car sick easily you may want to skip it.
Also, check out Surfing Goat Dairy and the Ocean Vodka Distillery.

Skipping Haleakala is a massive mistake IMO especially in favor of golf and massages. You can get those anywhere.

If you don't want to do the morning, the sunset is a great option too.

I'm making another trip to Kauai first week of March. Said I would never do it again, but think I'm going to hike the Hanakapi'ai Falls Trail. It's not an easy hike (8+ miles).
Dining -I mostly eat poke from the local grocery stores/delis.

Don't skip Haleakala. Go for sunset. Get an audio tour for the drive up.

Not sure what time you arrive in Maui, but try and do it the first morning you’re there. You will be waking up early because of the time difference. I’ve done luaus on both islands. I’ll never do one again unless I’m with people that haven’t been and want to go.
I agree, the best thing about Maui is the road to Hana.
Play the plantation course
Kauai
Always stay up on the north coast. The princeville ranch has a cool zip lining tour. Lots of beautiful beaches up north to just hang out on. Unfortunately my favorite golf course, The Prince, closed. It was, in my opinion, the best on the two islands. Also watch out for chickens.

Don’t skip Hana or Haleakala.
I did the Old Lahaina Luau and enjoyed it. I don’t have any other luaus to compare it to, but It was a pretty good show.

I have heard good things abut the sunset but the sunrise is well well worth it. One of (if not THE) most majestic thing I have ever seen.
I suggest doing the sunrise tour then a self guided bike ride down. Stop along the way for breakfast and coffee at somewhere like the Kula Lodge then a little later for beers and shopping, etc.

Molokini snorkel tour is well worth it plus you get to swim with the sea turtles
The Road to Hana is pretty much an all day thing and in the car a good bit
The tour had a nice lunch stop and ended at a winery which was pretty neat
If you drive it yourself you may not know all the places to stop and the roads are very narrow

Agreed. Waking up early for the sunrise seemed like a pain, but damn that was one of the coolest sights I've ever seen. Bring a jacket!

Maui- you can do just parts of road to Hana. We did the seven pools (or something like that) hike that was awesome.
Haleakala was amazing. We skipped first trip but did it on second visit.
Little Beach- go on a Sunday and stay past sunset for fire show and music.

Curious as to how early you had to leave to be there for sunrise. I'm reading reviews that they left at 3am. This seems kind of extreme! I'll be there in June and am mapping out my itinerary now.

It depends on the time of year. When we went we had to get there at 3 am so that was a 2:15am wakeup. Everyone got fit for their cycling gear (helmet, etc.) and it takes quite a bit of time to get up the mountain but people just slept on the bus to the top. When you get up there it's freezing but we weren't up there 30 minutes or so before the sun came up. As soon as it was up we were on our bikes heading down maybe 30 minutes after that.
It's worth it and unlike anything you can experience almost anywhere else.

Sounds extreme relative to the actual time or the amount of time until sunrise? Reason I ask is because you will be up super early due to the time change so it’s not a big issue in that regard.

Summer sunrise is around 5:45/6:00
With a 3am meet and a 3:30/3:45 departure and anywhere from an hour to hour and a half for the ride to the top there isn't much standing around time. Almost 40 miles uphill in the dark takes quite a while.
