as Jim Mora would say, shoulda ,woulda coulda. but it wasn't. at least he made the throw. Daniels would have took off running or took a sack!

If you watch where JD throws, he rarely challenges safety coverage which led to a limited attack.

I really like how these QBs compliment each other and hope that Kelly will find a way to play both guys.

I mean what else do you do in the last meaningful game of the year and you’re down 20+ points ina. Game you were never supposed to win? What does he have to lose. He went out there and tried (and did) make some big plays. If that’s how he plays every game every down then that’s a problem but I don’t see any issue with him slinging it around yesterday

Nuss stares down his receivers…it’s not that he doesn’t see safeties, he just doesn’t take them into account…
Good news is that is very correctable

Exactly, when you use the whole field, vertically and horizontally, it spreads the defense out and you get better numbers up front in the run game. So, even though JD brings a different element to the game they can nullify the effectiveness of it because he doesn’t stretch the defense, therefore, they can play closer to the LOS and negate the run game.

His first throw of the game should’ve been picked off
It was 3rd and 18 and the ensuing punt didn’t go as far as his throw. Some of you seem to think all interceptions are the same. They are not.

And you could see kelly go over to him and tell him this exact thing.
It was cover 2 and he tried to fit it in. That is always going to be a tough throw.
I do love nuss but he needs time on the field. I just don't see him getting that time to learn under kelly.

LOL. No shite.
It's like people don't understand Nuss is a freshman that has had very little in game reps, especially against the #1 D in the country. He played a hell of a half. Felt like we could score on any possession in the second half.

He doesn’t have the arm strength.
I do think it’s not always that JD doesn’t see the receivers but that he knows he has weaker arm and lacks confidence making throw early throwing open in smaller windows and with pass rush affecting him getting legs and body into throws. Hesitates and misses chance. His throwing also is more affected by cold weather and wind.
It’s good to know limitations, and he must make some of these throws in practice without a pass rush or why call these routes outside of them being decoys to clear defenders out. During games it just appears what he considers to be open and safe becomes much smaller, and until in each game he gets comfortable making some of them defenses have much less to defend.
For a running QB JD doesn’t really throw in the run. It’s shuffling in pocket keeping feet ready to throw or it becomes a run.
Nuss needs to know his arm alone can’t beat safeties or underneath coverage in SEC or even in college like it could in high school. Yesterday he needed to push being down so many scores, but when played against Southern he looked awful because he was trying to force things to make plays with his shot. He looked better in other regular season games he had some snaps than he did against Southern. Nuss or any non-running QB needs a better running game from a RB. Daniels has some called runs but also has a lot of runs from called passes, and it feels like we get away from a true running game at times which can’t happen with Nuss.

He was also PUSHING because we were down 3 or 4 scores.
Some of those throws, I would assume, he might not otherwise make.
He played GREAT coming off the bench not seeing much time all year.

The thing about his 50/50 balls is that a good percentage of the time they ended up well for LSU.
He completed enough that UGA had to respect the deep throw. That opened up the deep middle, which he exploited as well.
The INT was bad, but he simply misread the coverage. That can be corrected.
In college, more often than not, you get DPI, which is a net positive for the offense. Elite cover guys will shrug that off as the cost of doing business, but other guys will get gun-shy, which helps the WR.
Even an incomplete pass on the right down and distance isn't a bad thing. It lets the defense know you're willing to go there.
The best thing about last night is the two glaring mistakes Nuss made are very coachable. Explain what he missed in coverage on the INT, and tell him to be more aware of his internal clock to avoid the fumble.
Otherwise, awesome game. Work to get better.

my concern are the number of 50/50 balls that are thrown by Nuss
