re: I like Nuss but he doesn’t see safeties

Let this sink in... Nuss ran 5 plays on two drives and flipped the field putting the team in scoring position in 2 on the first drive; and did the same on 3 plays on the second drive. If he can stop pressing (the overthrow INT), he is exactly what LSU needs to be CFP championship caliber.
JD is what LSU needed this year with a new coach in his first season in the SEC (it brought stability) while trying to figure out your offensive line and running back situation.
Now that BK knows what this team looks like, it's time to prime the pump on offense. Either JD learns to let it rip every game or simply make the Nuss the guy. LSU is in a really good spot especially if they can get some big-time running backs in the program. This team needs to average about 35 points next season to keep CFP championship goals in front of them.

Nuss has an absolute fricking cannon of an arm, he can throw it so hard that when he goes deep the safeties have trouble adjusting to the ball since it isn't floated that high
That bomb to Nabers was like 55+ yards in the air

His TD throw to Nabers and his interception both had strong safety help that he either didn’t see or ignored. He got away with it once and didn’t the other.
Good news: that’s coachable.
The throw to Nabors was to the outside sideline which is why the throw was not picked.
Nuss to Nabers
He led the offense to 20 pts vs 10 for the 1st half and if a better call from Denbrock is made on 4th and inches the 35-10 halftime score becomes 35-24 in the 3rd qtr. At that point who knows what happens. A closer game and maybe Nuss doesn't press as much and take riskier chances.

On his second drive we had the longest pass play of the year. On his 3rd drive we had the longest running play of the year. Both vs the best D in the country. This is what happens when you’re not playing in a 10 yard box on offense.

It’s almost like game experience matters at this level?
This has been part of the frustration with Daniels. Daniels is not going to change at this point 40plus games in. Nuss can and will learn which throws he can force and when to check down.
It is also important to note that Georgia knew we were throwing the ball, throw in an ability to run with RBs, Nuss can be very dangerous in the future.

He doesn’t have the arm strength
That's not what I saw. Even the commentators were talking about his arm talent.

Every pass JD throws over a 15 yd hitch at the longest is a 50/50 ball. Nuss has an arm you can teach . JD has been a starting QB for 4 years. I am quite sure if Nuss starts for 4 years he would make you forget JD real quick.

That’s easy to fix vs seeing open receivers

He played his 1st meaningful snaps this season against an SEC defense.
Aren’t we holding him to standards a bit too high?

Is any qb arm warm on their first throw of the game?
Yes, they all are, and so was Nussmeier.

I mean what else do you do in the last meaningful game of the year and you’re down 20+ points ina. Game you were never supposed to win? What does he have to lose. He went out there and tried (and did) make some big plays. If that’s how he plays every game every down then that’s a problem but I don’t see any issue with him slinging it around yesterday

the arm is legit.

Big boy that had been wearing us out was not in game, had more to do with it than anything else and he was not in on that play which was pointed out immediately.
Daniels passed for 208 in the first half alone on a bad ankle against a defense that was giving up 196 yards per game for the season so let's not overstate this.
Nuss has arm talent, and he's not a statue like Brennan so the ceiling is high but quit shitting on JD. dude did better than pretty much any other QB did in the first half against UGA this year and not at 100% and all he gets is dumped on here.

Agree. It is. He needs more reps.

I didn’t say anything negative about JD and to throw that out there as an accusation proves you’re not being honest. So does the double standard you use in your comparison.

There was absolutely no one open on his int. They new we were slinging it and playing very high.

JD doesn't see anything. He simply runs and refuses to allow players to make plays. He was very bad to end the season. Productive drives were too few against Ark, A&M, and UGA.
Daniels is what he is. Nuss has not even come close to his ceiling. Kelly better give Nuss some playing time in the bowl game.

Will Levis is ranked much higher in the draft than JD5 and he has 10 int's. Heck, Stroud has 6.
Its nice to have 2 or 3 int's on the season but not at the expense of not making throws and ALWAYS leaving points on the field. We lost games and struggled through others where a QB cutting the ball loose would've made a difference in the outcome.
For you fans that defend JD5 by trying to make it seem like Nuss was throwing against backups, obviously Kirby was more worried that you. That's why they went for 2. They thought there was a chance Nuss could make it a 1 score game and every point was a premium. UGA pulled their starters with just under 5 minutes left in the game.
JD5 played tough all season, congratulations to him. However, his inability to pull the trigger entirely changed how defenses played us. The running game never had a chance with the d playing completely close to the LOS.
