Rail union rejects Biden deal, sets stage for December strike

Man post-election timing is spot on.
The vote sets the stage for a walkout on Dec. 9, in the middle of the holiday shopping season that demands increased shipping volume. Railroads transport around one-third of U.S. freight, including large amounts of food, packaged goods, fuel and car parts that can’t be shipped by other means.
“This can all be settled through negotiations and without a strike,” SMART-TD President Jeremy Ferguson said in a statement. “A settlement would be in the best interests of the workers, the railroads, shippers and the American people.”
Rail workers are pushing for better pay, more reliable schedules, stronger safety standards and the ability to take time off if they are sick or have a doctor’s appointment.
Members of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen, which together with SMART-TD represents more than half of the nation’s 115,000 railroad workers, voted to accept the tentative deal.
The Biden administration helped the two unions come to a tentative agreement with railroads in September, narrowly averting a strike that was set to take place the next day.
Eight of the 12 rail unions have now ratified agreements with the railroads. Three others saw their members vote down tentative deals. If just one union fails to ratify an agreement and chooses to strike, all rail workers would be set to walk out.

and every MSM with fox as the lead, will say its because of republicans and turtle will smile and agree that its true. the uniparty has a plan to destroy this country and no one can stop them until we force fair and free elections again where mail in voting no longer exists

I thought all this got settled a month or so ago?

No problem. Biden has a committee working on a memo to the MSM in the event of a strike. It will explain how it's all Trump's fault.

If the rail strikes, I hope all you baws are stocked up on non perishable goods. Better get your toilet paper while you can too, and be ready to see fuel prices that will make the previous highs look like a warmup.

So they'll have to go back to mass commercial shoplifting in Cali, instead of ripping off the railroad cars?....THAT AIN'T RIGHT!!

Biden will come out with dark red lights and military presence, blame Musk for reinstating Trump on Twitter as the cause for this.

The engineers ratified the agreement so the conductors are basically gonna be given the option to either accept the tentative agreement or take the peb recommendations.. no strike is gonna happen.. now if both the ble and the smart-td would have both rejected the agreement then maybe something would have happened but because there are 12 different rail unions, there is no real solidarity therefore Congress can basically pressure them to accept the deal since the engineers did.

Yep.
And the Biden administration booting this by throwing money at them rather than negotiate on the job reliability / time off issues show how clueless his negotiators are.

Midterms are almost over... Biden regime no longer gives a frick about that shite. Biden regime promises to give attention to it in 2024.

So since midterms:
- student debt cancellation has been obliterated by a judge
- we're putting together another care package for Ukraine
- there's going to be a railroad strike close to Christmas
What else? Need to keep a running tab.

I'm not anti-union, some places still need it, but others, it's hurting them, not helping.
While they sit out, with crappy strike pay, the leaders will continue getting their 6 figure pay checks, taking vacations, etc.
My favorite bumper sticker, "Vote union, you want a voice".
You get no voice, you have a vote only. You dont get to have a say on stuff, they tell you what your voting for.
I can go into my bosses office, tell him my vehicle will be in shop for a few weeks, and he will let me drive work vehicle to and from work, till it gets back. I can go in and ask for a raise, etc. You ain't getting any of that shite at a union house, ur getting what they pushed in front of you to vote.

Well, now that the strike looms ahead, the House has passed a bill to force the unions back to work. It now goes to the Senate, which should pass. But what I keep wondering, even though Congress says for them to go to work, how will they enforce it? Suppose the unions give Biden the middle finger and tell him we're still not going. What are they going to do, arrest them? This could go south fast.
