Surrounded by so much red, to be solid blue.

Probably the sweet meth they get.

From scenery to infrastructure, when it comes to the four corner states, New Mexico is a place apart from the other three in a bad way.

I like to call New Mexico “ghetto desert”.

New Mexico isn’t blue by choice. Dominion makes it so.

doesn't part of the oil patch in west Texas extend into New Mexico?

it would seem oil money should drive that state red

New Mexico is different. Some wonderful scenery but staggering poverty with pockets of obscene wealth.
Had a friend who owned a run down house near the center of Santa Fe. Each room had only one electric outlet . No central heat, he had gas heater in each room. No a/c. No lawn to speak of but had 4 bedrooms and a garage. He sold it for $900,000. He now lives in Nola.
There are some parts of the state that in order to get a job you have to be a member of the predominant family of that county. Some places in the state do not make new comers welcome.

Can confirm

I live here in NM & it is fricking WEIRD

Ghetto desert is a perfect description of it.

The big urban areas: Las Cruces, Santa Fe, Albuquerque, they’re all extremely liberal. Very artsy, pro drugs, pro crime, pro illegal immigration.

They’re absolute cesspools.

Lots of good, honest hardworking patriots in the rural areas though.

Huge hispanic and native american population. Not nearly as much of a white population as Arizona which used to help balance Arizona. Everyone of the government's dime. It not surprising New Mexico votes the way they do.

Yep. Go to Santa Fe and Taos sometime. Wacked-out, rich commie snow bunnies from NY and Cali have taken that area over, similar to Aspin and Vail and Boulder in Colorado.

Lea and Eddy Counties. Some of the most prolific producing acreage in the world.

The four most Southeastern counties of New Mexico, Lea, Eddy, Roosevelt and Chavez Counties, are referred to by many as "little Texas". They are HEAVY red, and if you'd ask their residents and business owners, majority would likely love to be either their own state or annexed by Texas.

When Gov. Grisham kept trying to keep the state locked down during COVID, many small business owners in those four counties opened back up and said "Come stop us".

Unfortunately, the counties that harvest Santa Fe and Albuquerque in the North, and Las Cruses, hold the population centers and are very leftist. Especially up around Santa Fe, where they hate the oil & gas industry, yet beg for the tax dollars generated by industry. It funds K-12 education across the entire state.

Ungrateful jackholes.

Lived there for 9 years. Absolutely beautiful weather, but the people running the state are complete shitbags. Crime is rampant now, vagrants everywhere, drunken indians wandering the streets, etc.

Democrats ruin everything they touch, and it's on purpose.

Lots of conservative-minded Hispanics and Native Americans in SENM. Lots of white leftists in Santa Fe.

It's not the racial makeup that makes New Mexico voting trends what it is.

Harrell (R) lost by about 1,200 votes (50.3 to 49.7). She took the seat from a dem in 2020.

quote:

The district is geographically New Mexico’s largest, covering most of the southern portion of the state from the oilfields of the southeast to communities along the U.S.-Mexico border in the southwest.

After being recently redistricted, the Second District now encompasses parts of Democratic-leaning Bernalillo County, a shift perceived to give Democrats an advantage in the election.

Carlsbad newspaper

Governor's race was close as well, with the Republican and Libertarian combining for 48.5% in a loss to a Dem lunatic who shut down everything for COVID. They're still mandating masks in courtrooms over there.
