I like a mix. Large open living room area with some sorts of separation from other rooms (but not full walls).

I don't want to simultaneously be in the kitchen, living room, and foyer all at the same time
The main section of my house has a foyer, dining, office, game room, living room and kitchen and breakfast combo. They are all open to one another enough to flow but closed off enough to make each room well defined and it's own. I prefer that over feeling like I am living an oversized studio apartment

Did that a decade ago in Skagway, AK and I miss the hell out of it. Carefree living.
I do have wireless so I can watch tv on pc's, so I guess I'm not that carefree. But for me, it's good. I will never date/marry ever again. I'm just chilling I guess...
Oh, the no insulation sucks arse...keeping warm, keeping cool is a pain in the arse.

we remodeled in 2021. that being said we had a 90 year old house and tried to keep it fairly classic.
the only thing we did was that color gray on some cabinets.

Same can be said for the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s etc.

Same here. Our house is going on 100 years old. We knocked down a wall between our kitchen and dining room and went with a similar color scheme in the kitchen.

Cause that's the modern homeowners dream right??? A kicthen, living room, dining room combo.... rushing water when someone using the sink right behind you as your watching TV... conversations in the dining room draining out people in the living room...all walls must go!!!
This. I have an open everything and wish I didn't. It's as if designers in the past knew what the frick they were doing.

I only watch stuff on my laptop using wifi, don't really do movies and such. Mainly sports and learning about stuff.

There is a medium here...I have a house that has a defined living room then the kitchen is offset through a large arched opening. The two rooms flow into each other but are defined enough that if you're in the kitchen you don't feel at all like your in the living room and vice versa.
I host watch parties and women can congregate and talk full volume in the kitchen and we don't notice shite. I've been to alot of open concept houses where no matter where you go it's all one giant hellish overlapping conversation.
I'm busting balls, but do agree there needs to be a happy medium with some defined space and rooms.

we knocked down one wall between the kitchen and the living room. dinner can kinda mess with TV watching, but nobody in our family sits around and watches TV while somebody is cooking.
and in our defense.... this was the wall

I really like the look but the single section tub sinks are terrible. Completely inefficient.

Seeing lots of new white painted bricks and unpainted wood beam exterior window headers. I see future water intrusion and replacement of rotten beam on 3 yrs.

Yeah, I don't get the hate for the large farmhouse style sinks. This was one item that I absolutely wanted for our kitchen remodel.

This is mine minus an office. Game room is isolated but right off all that stuff, and the rest of the areas are defined but don't have doors between them.

That arch is large enough to provide access, though? Looks it to me, anyway.
