It’s the fireworks that we started doing when the team runs into the field that freaked Mike out. That’s when I believe all this started. They saw this and switched to letting him decide if he wanted to go into the cage and he eventually stopped going. The fireworks were believed to traumatized him, so they eventually just scrapped it all together. Forcing a bengal tiger in a cage to go through that when it makes him very uncomfortable is inhumane and can cause health issues for him. I’m not a PETA nut either I hate those people. And at the end of the day it’s not that big of deal whether he’s on the field or not. It was cool while it lasted but you have to put the animals health and needs first.

By adding "endangered" you make it sound like Mike is the one that needs protection, and the death of a dog or cow is no big deal because those species are not endangered.

Or is that what you are ARE saying?

He wasn't drugged.

And the world's worst excuse that the dolts still parrot is, "Mike didn't like the fireworks."

Ok cool, once the teams head back into the locker room after pregame warmups, sometime right around the time the band takes the field, Mike can roll right back out of the stadium and he wouldn't be forced to hear/see the fireworks when the LSU team runs out before the game.

Could we not just have him exit the stadium a few minutes earlier than he used to? Has no one ever asked that question to the people who claim "we can't take Mike to the games because he doesn't like the fireworks."?

Please explain to me how I’m so eaten up with hate.

I’m not naive. Keep up with your ad hominem attacks. That’s all you have. That’s the way you spread your hate.

No one can disprove what I have said because it’s the truth. We have access to tigers whenever we need a new one regardless of some arbitrary group meant to stifle trafficking of tigers.

These leftists are sick. Posters and lurkers do not believe these people who are smug and act like they are better or know better. They do not.

You really don’t see a difference between a caged in endangered bengal tiger & a dog or cow on a leash?

We can, but you know the PETA type freaks don't. They're just general radicals. There is a level of hypocrisy that's fair in OP's post.

For what it's worth, this is working its way through Congress right now.

Oh look, a Democrat from Illinois writes a bill about big cats.

You’re just proving my point.

reat ad hominem. Please feel free to provide at least one sentence of logic to this apparently unthoughtful discussion.

The fact that the reasons why Mike is no longer brought into the stadium has been covered and discussed a million times by the school and on the this board yet you dumb asses keep talking about it.

I took a couple of minutes to read the text, it's interesting that that particular bill doesn't apply to a State college, university, or State licensed veterinarian.

That being said, part of the deal setting LSU up as a Tiger sanctuary did away with hauling him in before games...

That Memphis trailer/cage looks like shite.

I'm mostly ambivalent about Mike coming back into the stadium, but I always thought our iconic trailer/cage was pretty great looking. Especially compared to that thing Memphis was using.

Our two longest living Mike’s were regulars at the stadium, one even traveled to away games and basketball games. There’s zero logic to it, an apex predator stressed because he’s around too much food? Nah it’s simply the politics of idiots, it has nothing to do with the animal.

It has. The Tiger in that pic, Tom III, died in 2020. Memphis partnered with a local zoo to obtain the new tiger, Tom IV, and it is not brought into their football stadium.

Do people really think it was that "intimidating" for opposing teams?

Joel Samuels known as the "Tiger Man" recalls an LSU-Alabama game when coach Bear Bryant was the Alabama head coach. Samuels had a way of getting Mike to growl simply by saying, "Get 'em Mike." As the Alabama players gathered around the tiger trailer, Samuels quietly gave Mike the signal to growl. When Mike did so, it so unnerved the Alabama players that Coach Bryant took Samuels aside and gave him a stern lecture, advising him in no uncertain terms that he was not to upset his players like that. As far as we know, none of the other tigers growled on verbal cue.

1) There literally is nothing preventing Mike from returning to the field other than his far left keeper who is soon to retire. I’m glad this douche is retiring.

Even if your characterization of the keeper were accurate, there would be a simple solution to this problem if he really was the only thing preventing Mike from returning to the field. The fact that he hasn’t been let go shows he’s not the only one who feels the decision is the appropriate one. Given you are clearly wrong on this point gives me little reason to believe you know what you are talking about on any of your assertions.
