It’s doing two things; increasing supply in the market now, and will cause supply shortages in the market when a responsible President follows him and builds it back up. So, he is making everything thing harder to fix for his successor. This regime is a piece of work.

Useless political move, this administration is only interested in what will help bolster the polling numbers for the Dims.

So yes, it could decrease crude oil prices (Is WTI the only oil type that’s in the SPR?).

I would assume so but I am not sure tbh. I just mentioned WTI since it is the US benchmark.

any of our resident Biden voters swung by to deflect? if i had to guess, ignoring this specific moronic move to make some lazy point about this being indicative to modern day politics.

a sitting President can release strategic oil reserves purely to attempt to help his own party stay in power.

This is the part that pisses me off. There should be legislation put through that limits What the reserves can be tapped for, and “trying to increase supply because my idiotic policies have driven prices through the roof and it’s bad for my political future” should not be on the list.

Would just declare an National Energy Emergency and tap them.

You could start needing congressional approval, but congress doesn't want that to happen. It would be politics like the deficit cap.

This guy is a fricking disaster.

The whole left knows Americans are about to vote with their wallets so they're grasping at straws. I know quite a few Biden voters that are screaming from the GOP mountaintop right now.

Agreed. But its scary how many Democrats are still going to blindly vote Democrat. I know several of them on social media are still banging that Democrat drum.

MF is going to completely deplete the reserve in his pathetic, desperate attempt to influence the midterms.

These motherfrickers only concerns are surviving the midterms and not letting Trump back into office. They don't give a shite about ANYTHING else. Their little fricking games are going to ruin people. I am very surprised that the pants shitter is still around.

The desperation here is at critical levels. Supply is not there. Not even close. OPEC is leaning back in their chair and telling Biden "sorry, not sorry." They can't pull the reigns off the oil & gas producers because it will anger the overlords that really call the shots. This is the only answer, and it's such a terrible idea, and it will backfire spectacularly.

Biden ran on the platform of reducing petroleum production because it supposedly encourages climate change according to his science.
Opec cuts back supply, which is what he wants, and Biden criticizes them…

Even Biden knows that in order to get off of our reliance of oil, prices of that oil and products made with it, will increase. This increase in price generally pushes people away from using it. Eventually, if prolonged, people will choose alternative sources for their energy- exactly what liberals want.

Yet,,, when prices jump as everyone knows they will do…. They blame everyone and then release strategic reserves to increase supply and bring prices down…. Thus… eliminating the desire to choose alternative sources of energy….

It makes no sense and it’s proof that this is all for political purposes

Seeking to artificially lower price creates demand that authentically increases price.

I think POTUS should have at least college freshman level economics knowledge.

Can’t imagine hiring a pOTUS without the capabilities to be POTUS. Yet we vote them in all the time.

Absurd.
