You see no issue with the stance PayPal has made, nor the punishment they will enforce?

It doesn't sound like they will win any of it once it hits court. What are they going to do? Charge CNN $2500, 49 times a day?

They've already walked back the policy saying the language was put into the user agreement in "error".

quote:

The issue gained traction over the weekend after the company published policy updates prohibiting users from using the PayPal service for activities identified by the company as “the sending, posting, or publication of any messages, content, or materials” promoting misinformation, in an Acceptable Use Policy due to kick in on Nov. 3. A penalty of $2,500 could be imposed for each violation, according to the update.

The notice included “incorrect information,” a spokesperson for PayPal said in a statement to Bloomberg News. “PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and this language was never intended to be inserted in our policy.”

Paypal is so full of shite saying the notice was "incorrect information".

One thing that those liberals in California did is something I actually agree with. Their law states if you can start an account online, you have to legally be able to close it online.

“Error”. Because a policy magically writes itself then ends up posted online.

Choices here are a rogue actor wrote this and managed to get it up, that they floated this policy internally and accidentally posted it, or that they thought people wouldn’t notice and are now crawfishing.

They're taking notes from the old AOL playbook. Remember trying to cancel your America Online account, and having to listen to a 20 minute sales spiel after sitting on hold for an hour?

As critics call for users to delete PayPal accounts, the company apologies for the confusion and claims the new policy set to go into effect on Nov. 3 was all just an innocent mistake.

I'll never understand why a business would want to make a political stand. If I'm running a big company I'm operating like Switzerland. Democrat and Republican money is green.

I think you do understand. This isn't organic. The government has attached this type of behavior to operating. The government is in the middle of a communist takeover of private industry via ESG.

It doesn't do any of us any good to evaluate things from a false premise that these companies aren't already tainted and are simply trying to make money in a free market.

PayPal must be struggling these days, and they've started allowing their politics to influence their decision making and policies.

With YoungRippa they used a never-before-used reserve policy that blocked his company from accessing over a million dollars. PayPal continued that "reserve" even after fulfillment of the product had started. They also would never give him a definitive answer on if or when the "reserve" would be taken off his account, it was a constantly changing target.

I haven't liked PayPal since that controversy with the hurricane relief funds a long time ago. Apparently a ton of donations came in all at once for the Red Cross and PayPal decided to lock the account to investigate possible fraud.

Problem is the funds were locked for weeks or months with no recourse by the donors or the account manager.

That's when I learned that PayPal, despite operating like a bank, PayPal users don't have the same legal rights and protections as the do with a bank. They can basically freeze your account for any reason they deem necessary and you have no recourse.

frick PayPal.

Don't use PayPal. I see no reason to have them standing between your credit card and you. That's what your bank is for. I know there are online sites that will try to force you into using PayPal, Venmo, etc. We need to stop doing business with these online businesses that require a pay service type company.

The exact thinking Michael Jordan had but LeBron is oblivious to.

In the 90’s Michael Jordan said when asked why he isn’t more political, “Republicans buy Jordan’s too.”
