Obviously played a key role in the game. For our experts. what did y’all see that allowed Florida State to continue to move the chains.

lb's are bad, soft coverage so the db's wouldn't get beat deep...

Conservative calls. Most disappointing aspect of the game were the calls on both sides. Expected to be better coached.

It’s like were in a classic Saints “prevent defense” the entire game.

I dont think LSU respected the QB throwing the ball and were content to stay back and wait for him to make a mistake. I think they were much more concerned with him running and were willing to let him beat us through the air. Unfortunately, he did.

Honestly, it started with our front seven. Our DLine is not good, plain and simple. Secondary doesn’t have the athletes to cover at a high level so they play soft zone.

Everything underneath and across the middle was open, players out of position.

10 yard cushion, and dropping at the snap, on 3 & 8.

We played off of their WR on the outside, and played a lot of soft zone underneath and over the middle.

I saw several times where a LB in zone moved to cover a shorter receiver - a lot of times who was already in someone else's zone, leaving someone (usually the TE) more easily wide open behind them.

Giver the number of new players and the new scheme for our defense, it was bound to have lots of little miscommunications which need correction. Only a live fire game could really teach this.

You're gonna get a lot of soft zone/poor lb play answers and it's hard to dismiss that but their QB gave us a lot of problems. Kelly said in his presser, we got to him but were unable to get him to the ground. The result was he extended plays and his receivers worked back to their QB into a lot of those soft zone open areas. We also lined up too far of the slot receivers/TEs quite often, 5 yards off the receiver on a 3rd and 3.

Just my take, might be crap though

Hardly an expert, but I have to give FSU and their QB a ton of credit. They played their tails off.

LSU may have played a bit of a soft zone, but being the first game and the offense completely sucking, they were trying to avoid the big demoralizing plays.

Poor linebacker coverage across the middle.. every time the qb would break a tackle there was a receiver in the middle of the field that was wide open

Zone coverage, rather than man-to-man. And Jordan Travis making plays to be able to buy time to throw the football. Defense had him dead to rights a few times and he made a play.

Honestly was the biggest problem in the game, totally different game if they don’t go 11/17 on 3rd down

Was the difference in the game in my opinion. The team must improve in this area. It killed us.
