Today marks 17 years of sobriety for me, a promise that I made good on.
What you got OT?

About ten years ago, I was broke, no job, no girlfriend, no hope, and making a lot of bad choices. I didn't know how I would do it, but I promised myself I would get my sh&$ together. I did.
And again, congrats on 17 years. That's huge.

I promise I’d sign up for a TD Premium membership a couple of years ago. Finally got the invitation this year.

I quit smoking twelve years ago after having smoked for thirty-plus years.

That I was going to succeed despite the many folks who stood in my way.

Couldn't get into LSU out of high school because my grades were shitty. Promised myself I would figure it out and graduate from LSU, went to Southeastern for a year, brought my grades up. Transferred to LSU and then graduated a few years later.

"Borrowed" a neighbor's motorcycle when I was 15/16. Almost wiped out speeding around a huge curve. Promised myself I would never ride another one, having avoided a serious accident. A promise I've kept for 30+ years.
Congrats on the sobriety. Was there something that made August 10, 2005, the day that you quit?

I miss Georgetown. I spent many weekends as a kid playing in the San Gabriel and going to movies on the theater next to the court house. Then I went back a few years ago and I barely recognize the place. And Round Rock used to be tiny and it's huge too.

I got a head start of losing lard when I had covid. I was told my ideal weight is 200 and I got down to 206 post covid.
Now I'm doing things like chewing gum instead of snacking and it seems to be helping.

3 years ago I was taking a piss and couldn’t see my dick because my belly was in the way. I decided right then that this wasn’t how I was going to live.
Fast forward to today, I can still barely see my dick but my belly is no longer the reason.

To get my fat arse back to the 175lb weight listed in my highschool foosball roster. Did that. Now the struggle is keeping that much weight on.
