Couldn't get into LSU out of high school because my grades were shitty. Promised myself I would figure it out and graduate from LSU, went to Southeastern for a year, brought my grades up. Transferred to LSU and then graduated a few years later.

That is absolutely awesome. Congrats.

I promised myself I would get a college education after the military seeing as I made such a mess of it before I enlisted. Now I have an associates, a bachelors, and a master's degree. All free, courtesy of the G.I. Bill. I have about 12 days of eligibility left, so if I decide to get a PhD it will be on my own dime.

So if someone put a bottle of 15 year pappys in front of you. You wouldn’t have a pour?
There’s at least 350 other varieties of alcohol that would tempt me before 15 year-old Pappy’s.

And if I were an alcoholic, I could refuse all of them.

When I left my last radio job, I swore I would never depend on radio to make a living.
So far, so good

When I got married I would not drink or smoke. 25 years this year. Something about living through it as a child, you never want your wife or children to go through that hell.
Congrats on the 17 years!!

Thanks, it was almost 20 years ago now. Had a few haters tell me I wouldn’t even graduate let alone from LSU, where I always wanted to go. I never called them out, but they were always in the back of my mind.

Meh. If you're fully 6'1", 190 would still be a little over, but you would probably rightly call that "just right". I know you don't want to hear this, but 220 at your height is flirting with the obesity line (228 would be officially obese).

Certainly, but that doesn't make them not fat. I'm fat. My BMI runs in the mid-27 range and I don't look fat, just a little doughy with a paunch. I'm fitter than 75% of dudes my age.

America is so fat we don't even see it, anymore.

This arbitrary BMI shite is tired.
6'1 220 is pretty fricking fit. Anyone here who say's otherwise is probably a string bean trying to gain mass and can't.

get my fat arse back to the 175lb weight listed in my highschool foosball roster. Did that. Now the struggle is keeping that much weight on.

Keeping that much weight on? I don't believe you. I'm not fat, but I'm overweight from where I want to be. It takes a lot of effort to drop/keep pounds off.

It's not arbitrary. It's a 2-factor, objective formula. They don't even gender pare it (and girls are naturally "fatter" than dudes).

It isn't the single factor to consider (it does not factor in bone density, muscle mass, etc.), but since you're not a world class athlete or absolute freak of nature and neither is he, it is probably a very good indicator of whether or not one should cut back on the calories.

When you say "BMI is bullshite" or words to that effect, that's a way of saying, "I'm fat and I don't care."

Deal with it.

I'm 6'3 and felt miserable at 220 (and especially at 230 which is where I was when I decided to fix it.) I did not consider myself anywhere near "pretty fit" at 220.
