you better make sure you can still be able to get parts for it in the next few years, when warehouse inventory runs out, because they arent in business any more

Buddy has one and I rode with him to the West Bank to get it worked on supposedly that’s the only dealer in the state.
Was BSing with the owners and what they said was parts was almost impossible to get and they didn’t even know when or if they would get some parts.
I wouldn’t do it if I was you.

I have an ETEC it's a great motor I really like it. However there is no more Evinrude it's gone there is no more support or warranty (mine is supposed to still be under warranty).

My trim motor went out and it took 6 weeks to find a new one. When the motor runs which it has for 9 years it has great hole shot and is a very nice motor. However the lack of company support and difficulty in finding parts greatly outweighs the plusses of the motor.

Bombardier just stopped making the engines. I have read there will still be at least some support and parts. It's not the same as if the company ceased to exist.

I dont think thats accurate. BRP is still warranting the engines and I THINK still training techs. I have a 200HO etech and I love the damn thing. It's a monster of an engine and would ALMOST run with my friends 250 optimax pro xs on the same hull.

That said, I would be looking to get a heavy discount on the boat because of the evinrude. It sucks for us rude owners, but that's the reality of it. 5 years from now, they're going to be worthless. There won't be techs and probably won't be parts.

Run...Complete junk look at a suzuki or Yamaha no way would I consider an etec on a boat there's a reason they don't make them any more.

You could very likely get a few good years from it if it's decent hours on it, but I'd be putting money into a savings account to repower it when something does go wrong. Sold a boat with a blown lower unit on the Evinrude on it and the guy had to buy another blown Evinrude to get the lower unit, crazy stuff.
