Biggest issue is if you don't get rain (i'm north of PG and it looks sketchy at best for rain) you likely will loose your nitrogen to the atmosphere and it's likely the most important for cool season grasses
I killed my first deer with a Darton bow about 40 years ago… they have come a long way.

Chad I’ll be able to tell you a lot more about them in a week my family just went and got me one for my birthday yesterday. Once I get it set up and shooting I can weigh in.

I have a friend that has been shooting one this year and loves it.

I suspect you are asking because they are sold in Covington. I have a lot of faith in Ronnie there and if he likes them I think they are probably great.

I got 70% of my planting done last weekend before the rain. Going to haul but up there Friday at lunch and plant Friday afternoon and Saturday and hopefully finish everything before the rain on Saturday afternoon/evening!

Looks like perhaps the fronts are starting to line up for rain. Hopefully it works out for everyone

I'm seeing the same thing we got a decent rain across the river from Talullah this week but nothing looks to be to following it. I'm watching for the next chance of rain to plant not this weekend but possibly the following. Will all depend on when reliable rain is in the forecast.

Curiel also has a very good arm which will be very helpful in center field. Stanfield doesn’t have the same type of arm, he will bring a lot to left field I like the move.

Still waiting here. October 15 used to always be my planting weekend however last two years have planted and plants struggled due to drought. This year will plant on or after it when I am certain rain is coming. Would like a few rains before then to help with ground moisture.

Prayers for the baby the NICU is such a difficult place a constant roller coaster of emotions.

The GI infection NEC got one of my sons 15 years ago its awful I pray they don’t have to deal with that on top of everything else.

re: Hearing protection?

Posted by Da Hammer on 9/29/25 at 6:05 am to
Depending upon your budget there are a lot of good options.

I use two different types that are made from a mold of the inside of your ear which an audiologist can do. I took that mold and had form fitting plugs made which work very well for shooting, I use them on the skeet/clays range and also shooting rifles.

Then for hunting where I want to hear my surroundings I use Wild Ears which took the same mold I used from above and made electronic hearing protection. I use that for both duck and deer hunting. I can easily talk to others in the blind and still be protected well.

As a 50 year old that has had constant tinnitus (ringing of the ears) for over 15 years they have been worth the investment. The form fitting ones were about $250, Wild Ears about $1000.
Tines are short and velvet makes him look bigger. 125 is my guess. However if he is a trophy in your eyes who cares what it scores.
Benny was totally unhinged, however when he was on his meds he was a brilliant guy who knew a lot of stuff. Problem was he was just flat out crazy and when he went off the deep end he dove in with both feet.

Benny was somewhat of a friend for a few years in fact my first dog was one he had to give up as a puppy. She became the best dog I ever had.

MsDucks days were some great times....

I have been following this for some time not only because of the tragedy but I love the mountains always have. I wanted to learn for myself and my boys I try and teach about the outdoors everyday so we can be more safe out there and not let these to men's lives pass without learning from them.

I had just graduated and was in first year of grad school in Memphis. When Florida tied it and I felt we got hosed on a few calls I broke a door.... OOPS!

Then LSU kept coming back and never gave up played really well. We had a formal in Grad school when we won me and a buddy drove from Memphis to BR that night we were so excited partied until the sun came up and don't remember much except it was all so worth it!!

re: Where is your hunting property

Northern Claiborne county, MS on the Big Black River.
Have a friend that has been locked out of his for over a year different brand. They won't send anyone to help him without an affidavit and proof of purchase. It has been a nightmare especially since the safe is three hours away at a hunting camp, trying to coordinate everything has been awful.

We are about to take a side grinder to the side and get everything out of it which is super easy but will obviously ruin your safe.

Cummins or Generac. Good friend sells and repairs both he prefers the Cummins.

I have had a Generac at my house since 2009, knocking on wood hard it's been relatively maintenance free.
While I don't live close enough to attend as many games/events as you, over the years my favorite thing about my seats is getting to know the players families. Over the last 30 years it's been one of my favorite things about going to tigers baseball games.

I always appreciate all of your reports thanks as always.

I’ll plant somewhere around the second week of October when rain is a definite in the forecast. Not planting until I’m certain there is rain to follow it.

Every year for the last 30 other than the last two second week of October has always worked well.
