In the marshes it will get you in a bind REAL quick lots of what it calls public is private and I’ve witnessed some nasty disagreements over it.

In the woods where I hunt in MS it’s pretty accurate but certainly not perfect.

We have seen young bucks chasing but non receptive does, the bigger bucks are cruising but not chasing yet at least from what we have seen. I'm in northern Claiborne county.

They do are they somewhat reputable? Couldn’t decide if it was a scam or not when I looked there.

I thought there was an official one but couldn’t find it.

Agreed but wondering if there is a more reliable place to order? I know if it comes in like crap won’t have time to get another one for them.

Buying LSU baseball jerseys?

Where is the best place to buy a jersey for my boys that is real? When I google I get a whole lot of china. Don’t want to order and find out too close to Christmas it’s made wrong or something else.

TIA!
Both Wild Ears and ESP have been around a long time and are reputable. I have friends with ESP and I have Wild Ears both are made from molds of your inner ear and work well for anything from sitting in a deer stand to a duck blind to a range. I use them all the time and have had mine for about 10 years now still going strong.

Agreed they aren't very aggressive IMO. We have many bears and encounter them every year they are way more scared of us even with cubs.

The only hairy encounter we have had in about ten years is where a neighbor was baiting and a female and three cubs came to his feeder at dark. The bears winded him and the cubs climbed the tree 5' from him and the mom was at the base of his tree not very happy. I went in with a SxS and ran them off and got him out of there but even in that instance the female showed no aggression to the hunter she stayed on the ground stomping and trying to get the cubs out rather than climbing the tree to get the hunter.

I routinely hike, jog, scout without a sidearm at our place. Maybe one day it will get me but not a huge concern for me.
We have no shortage of them in SW MS you are welcome to come grab some

We hunted morning and evening most days from Friday evening before Thanksgiving through Sunday night after Thanksgiving.

We have a lease in Claiborne County it’s a good lease not a great lease. We hunted hard and have worked our butts off as a club to improve habitat and food plots. I would like to think the habitat improvements after several years and other changes are adding up to get us where we are.

Flip side we saw one shooter buck the whole time lots and lots of young bucks but only one we were going to shoot. We will shoot does but trying to let the yearlings get a little bigger even though science says you don’t have to do that. I just struggle walking up on a dead doe with the yearlings 40 yards away watching you haul her off.

I hope this doesn't come across to arse holeish....

Get out of the box stand and into the woods with the deer and the acorns.

I haven't baited this year at all I have been working on helping my son and his friend learn to hunt away from box stands and food plots. (I do love a good box stand by the way). Acorns are your best bait.

We are having an outstanding season hunting away from feeders and fields. We don't shoot much we watch them and shoot does. Over thanksgiving week between my son and I we had over 250 deer encounters mostly in oak flats bordered by thickets or saddles/funnels. My son managed to kill a 155" 13 point Wednesday of last week and it was in a plot. (saw him in the woods and knew he would bed down close by and used the wind to guess where he would go)

I am far from anti feeding but the deer and mother nature are trying to tell you they want something other than feed.
Make sure you have an idea of how to run PAL it’s the most challenging of all the passes in Venice to run.

Once you get into Dennis/Loomis it’s easier. Just running that part of the pass isn’t too bad but be careful.
My plots are doing fairly well, however I do things differently.

I am 100% regenerative AG, so I don't disc, I don't use herbicide and I plant with a no till drill. As a result have a large layer of "thatch" which helps protect my plants.

That being said my plots are up and green but could use some rain. I have a few fields that are half conventional tillage and half regenerative and the regenerative plots are looking a LOT better.

I plan on putting out nitrogen Sunday before the rain next week.

I think you are wrong to lump everyone into the same category as your friend. There are a LOT of people that practice for shots like that and can make them.

800 yards is a LONG shot, you have to allow for elevation, wind, and out west most times thermals along other factors that MUST be practiced. I have a group I shoot with and we routinely shoot 1000-1500 yards to practice. Many in our group could make that shot many won't try it as too much can go wrong.

800 yard shots just because a certain caliber can do it are totally unethical and 800 yard shots on a game animal by someone that hasn't ever practiced the shot before are also very unethical.

Biggest issue is if you don't get rain (i'm north of PG and it looks sketchy at best for rain) you likely will loose your nitrogen to the atmosphere and it's likely the most important for cool season grasses
I killed my first deer with a Darton bow about 40 years ago… they have come a long way.

Chad I’ll be able to tell you a lot more about them in a week my family just went and got me one for my birthday yesterday. Once I get it set up and shooting I can weigh in.

I have a friend that has been shooting one this year and loves it.

I suspect you are asking because they are sold in Covington. I have a lot of faith in Ronnie there and if he likes them I think they are probably great.

I got 70% of my planting done last weekend before the rain. Going to haul but up there Friday at lunch and plant Friday afternoon and Saturday and hopefully finish everything before the rain on Saturday afternoon/evening!

Looks like perhaps the fronts are starting to line up for rain. Hopefully it works out for everyone

I'm seeing the same thing we got a decent rain across the river from Talullah this week but nothing looks to be to following it. I'm watching for the next chance of rain to plant not this weekend but possibly the following. Will all depend on when reliable rain is in the forecast.

Curiel also has a very good arm which will be very helpful in center field. Stanfield doesn’t have the same type of arm, he will bring a lot to left field I like the move.

Still waiting here. October 15 used to always be my planting weekend however last two years have planted and plants struggled due to drought. This year will plant on or after it when I am certain rain is coming. Would like a few rains before then to help with ground moisture.
