Kobe is the most overrated player in the history of the game.
He is ridiculously underrated by people on this board specifically who just hate the guy. People here rank him in the 15-20 range all time.
It’s mostly stat nerds who have never played the game or won much of anything in their lives and are unable to quantify anything that doesn’t show up in a stat book. It’s laughable.

That's about right. Litearlly off the top of my ehad without thinking
Jordan
LBJ
Bird
Magic
Kareem
Shaq
Duncan
Durant
Wilt
Steph
That's 10 who are clearly better. Then you get to guys like:
Russell
Barkley
Malone
Wade
Pippen
West
KG
Hakeem
Robertson
Nash
Isaiah
Stockton
And current players who are underrated historically:
Giannis
Harden
Kawhi
Jokic
You can definitely get to 20 without trying too hard before Kobe belongs

I still think Wilt would be an All-NBA level player even in today's game, but if he played against modern bigs he wouldn't be in the discussion for GOAT scorer

Still hate him to this day due to his clutchness in the Sweet 16 of the 2003 NCAAT

Only on message boards.
1. MJ
2. Lebron
3. Kobe
I’ll listen to arguments for just outside of the top 5. But any list without Kobe in the Top 10 is just not even worth the debate to me. Typically that person is so unbelievably biased against Kobe that it’s almost personal. Muh stats!!!
On that note, let me guess… you are not a big Kobe fan are you?

I really don't have a personal opinion about him as a player outside of how he performed on the court compared to other players.
In terms of Kobe the person, I was very happy to see what he did after playing b/c I was worried he would allow his personal demons and OCD to overtake his brain.

If you needed someone to miss one shot, Kobe was your man.

You are forgetting about all Of the easy competition Bron had in the early rounds of the east for a decade.
Posted on 7/12/22 at 3:40 pm to ReauxlTide222
In the east lebron was accustomed to getting to play a team with around 40 wins in the first round of the playoffs. I tell you what he has always made the move at the right time I give him credit for that. He was in the east when the east was much weaker than the west and now the east is the better conf and he happens to be in the west.

He won 5 championships, and is the most versatile scorer ever, he had more “game” (scoring moves etc) than anyone ever.

Oof. Tell us about your storied athletic career.
Do we need to discuss why the "stat book" might be important in a conversation such as this?

Hard to have a conversation with that as the premise.
Kobe isn't a consensus top three basketball player to wear a Laker uniform (behind LeBron, Kareem, Wilt, and Magic). That's not a slight when three of those names are in the conversation for GOAT.
West, Baylor, Kobe, and Shaq would all also be the best players to ever wear most other uniforms.

This just another thing that proves it

People around the nba will tell you Bron is the smartest player in the league. that’s pretty much a consensus. doesn’t mean much when rating him as a scorer.

Boom, who do you have as a better scorer: Kobe or James?
Posted on 7/13/22 at 8:33 am to SlowFlowPro
James is better. Kobe was just too Inefficient. RIP KOB

Longevity and shot creation. Although I agree that he doesn't belong near the top of this list. Far too inefficient.
