Even if what you said had any resemblance of truth...
How do you know what your max rep is so you can do your percentage weight lifts (believe there is a more technical term) without actually doing a max rep every now and then?
Back when we would lift for football, we would always have max out days (don't recall how often as it was 25+ years ago), and would reset our lifting schedules for the 10 * 75%, 8 * 80%... Then you incrementally increase the weights until you next max day

There is the most obnoxious screamer at my gym and he does it with less weight than most of the men that go there. It is beyond annoying.
