The reason I hate NIL is that it reduces my love for College Football. I used to love to think that players played for the thrill of the competition, and took pride in playing for their school.
Even if that was an illusion it was a believable illusion. My thought on it has changed, and now I see the majority of them as mercenaries only.
Do you also believe in Santa Claus and professional wrestling? Nothing about college football recruiting has been believable since Eric Dickerson and the gold Trans-Am.

Because compared to A&M we’re a have not in terms of big money donors, and LSU is being left behind bigger spenders.
You are being downvoted much more than upvoted, but this is correct.
NIL the way it was originally presented is fine. What we have now is straight up pay for play. And we don't have the alumni base nor the coin in this state to compete with our peers. It is complete and total bullshite what has happened to college athletics but this is where we are.

No. I just don't like them. They are weird and the guys do butt stuff to each other. Not that there is anything wrong with that, of course. Just not my thing.

Is it because we have a since of weird insecurity of A&M and A&M has dominated NIL?

I don’t get it
This board has had a Bama obsession for many years, and that's bad enough.
But this board does indeed have a very odd obsession with A&M, which really hasn't been a threat to us at all in football (we've won 9 of the last 11).
I don't get it either.

Do you think losing Ricks because of $$ is TAMU based?
Posted on 6/15/22 at 4:15 pm to AlecRock23
It comes down to recruiting
Money attracts the top guys
Tamu has more of it than we do
It stands to reason that tamu is going to get guys that we would have otherwise gotten because they can offer more through NIL opportunity
Bama, auburn, Arkansas, and others should be equally concerned

People have this idea in their head that Louisiana is broke and is some poor state. There’s a shite ton of money in Louisiana and funneled into LSU.
Granted, it ain’t Texas money. LSU certainly up there when it comes to resources. NIL or no NIL. Louisiana is gonna make it happen. Always have always will.
It might be a crooked state in a lot of regards but we will win in football.

If you want to compete. Get off message boards and go earn the money you can donate to the program you support.

Well, I’ll be honest with you. I love college football. I look forward to it all year long, and simply don’t want anyone to do anything to frick it up. I have seen many, many semi-pro football leagues formed over the years…and every single one of them have failed. I’m afraid that I college football is turning into just another one of those leagues.

I don’t like it in its current form. I don’t believe total free agency works. It also undermines the coaches and there will always be other, richer schools trying to poach your top athletes.

I could contribute $20 a month. But I’m not sure how much that would move the needle for a 5 star recruit. Plus, if he transferred and ran off with my money, I would be pissed.

Assuming we are talking about football the obvious threat is they hauled in the best recruiting class of all time and no matter what you hear this is all about A&M capitalizing on NIL and getting ahead of the curve in regards to NIL
Texas A&M is a threat and more now than in the past.
Bury your head in the sand but NIL will change college athletics forever.

Just wait until Texas comes to the big table. They will be the final nail in the coffin to put A&M
In 30 years people will speak of Texas football the way people today speak of Rice, Yale and Army football. A&M will own the Longhorns.

Alleva never should have done that.
