95% of the people I've seen playing pickleball are the same one's that group-meet at Hardees for breakfast.

I am old. I play it once a week to be social/exercise. It is a fun game to play especially when you hit 40 and doing crossifit type activity is going to beak me.

I go play to break a sweat with a buddy at free courts around here: I just learned the rules myself when an older couple asked to challenge us in doubles last week. They beat the hell out of us since they called faults on everything we were doing and we learned all the rules the trial by fire way.

It’s a great game. There are tournaments televised now with pro levels. It wills soon be an Olympic sport.

Why the surge in popularity in what seems like all of a sudden? Does anyone here play?

We used to play in high school phys ed, I always thought it was a cheap sport that they could occupy us with for 45 minutes while the coaches talked shop about this weekend's football game.

And that's why it's exploding now. It's pretty cheap to play, it doesn't take up space, matches are very short compared to real tennis (or golf), and it doesnt' take a ton of athletic ability.

Ergo seniors can throw down $5, play a few matches, and be done in time for the early buffet.

My retired parents and all their friends play. Seniors love it.

I only see young people playing it around here, and a lot of cute young chicks at that, I've got my first lesson this afternoon

It’s fun and doesn’t require much athletic stamina or ability. It’s like ping pong, tennis, and wiffle ball had a late night threesome and birthed a child.

We just picked it up. Local rec has it for free. They have nets setup in the gym with courts taped off. You can play 3 courts next to each other.

We can play with the kids easily. Even my 7 year old. They play tennis and it's a learning curve there as well as having to traverse and entire court on little legs.

They can be successful at pickle ball. Put some tunes on and go play with them. Especially nice is inside the gym when its 105 outside.

I am 26 and love it. Tennis and ping pong are both fun, pickleball takes the great aspects of both and combines it into an awesome sport. I love anything competitive though. Did 2 hours of 1v1 yesterday, it is great exercise. I will do anything to avoid a simple jog.

Pickle Ball is huuuge, just go to your local Dick’s, Academy, hell even Bass Pro has a large section of Pickle Ball equipment and paraphernalia, way more merchandise than tennis. Show-Me state games were just this past weekend in CoMo and Pickle Ball had the largest number of entrants and teams of any sport.
Hell, don’t you Baws have a “Chicken N Pickle”?

Because it’s awesome.

Yep. Easy way to make friends and get in shape while doing something competitive.
