if you're not looking for fine dining, try a shrimp basket for decent, reasonably priced, family dining seafood. there are several. i wouldn't go to crab trap again. the gulf has nice food and atmosphere. My favorite for combination of atmosphere and food is the florabama yacht club. The Cobalt is a little more upscale. find out where "false identity" is playing if you enjoy really good live music. for a funky beach bar dive with decent burgers, Hub Stacey's at the point. another of my favorites is sunset grill, on the east end of perdido.

When it was Anchor Inn in Orange Beach, it had great views and great burgers. it is now Avenue Pub, with the same views and good yelp reviews for food. for a fun, local redneck atmosphere, girls in thongs, music and ok food, try Pirate's Cove in Elberta. it's a 30 minute drive.

I think this is a relatively new (to me) restaurant, but I thought the food at Fresh off the Boat was really good. Fresh off the Boat

Blalock is a great fresh seafood market on 180 on the way in. Will cook the shrimp for you if you want. Publix is great for sides. Live Bait is good if you actually want to go out.

Fisherman's Corner in Perdido.

Best shrimp and grits you'll ever eat.

Going out to eat in OB in June can be a nightmare unless you make reservations.

Most seafood alone panhandle is very mediocre at the restaurants. It's kind of mind-blowing TBH. I'll throw a dart and go with Cobalts

Second opinion: Don't go to the beach for the seafood. go for the atmosphere. if you gotta have the best seafood, go to New Orleans.

Been going to Gulf Shores/OB for many years. Best place in OB is Cosmos. Also, across the street in the strip center, Big Fish is a good option, especially for sushi. Fishers at OB marina is great and the best atmosphere in my opinion. They have an area of field turf for the kids to run around and its great to walk off the meal and check out the boats in the marina. We have also arrived by boat a few times and you can tie up within a few feet of the hostess stand.

We used to make a special trip every year to Bon Secour and hit Tin Top and while still solid, not as good as it used to be.

If you are up for a half hour drive, head back up to Jesse's in Magnolia Springs. Its the best food in the entire area by a long shot.

Probably my favorites over many years of going to that area is The Original Point in Perdido. Nothing fancy, shoot it looks like a dive but always good food. Also had good food and service at Desoto's Seafood Kitchen and The Original Oyster House in GS. Doc's in OB is good too.

Try my buddies restaurant Bon Temps Poboys. Across the street from Doc's. He will have everything from seafood platters to shrimp poboys. He is originally from Scott.

We own a condo in OBA so are there often. I have to agree and disagree with a few suggestions. Breakfast/brunch theres Brick and spoon, Oso early, and ruby slipper. But our personal favorite brunch is live bait. Lunch/dinner casual spots... bon temps, the gulf (but super busy at times), tiki bar, Oso, bahama bobs. Fresh off the boat is absolutely our favorite and seems to be more of a locals spot except for some spillover from waits at other spots. Cobalt is good but you’ll be on a 2 hour wait starting at 5. Agreed on ole River side of florabama for a casual fun scene as long as you don’t expect the best food experience of your life. We pull the boat up there often to grab a drink and hang out for a bit. GTs is where I have to disagree, it’s the same owners as cobalt but a much more limited menu and we aren’t fans at all. The sloop in gulf shores is a hidden gem as well. Super casual but excellent food

I personally find Cobalt to be overrated, food wise. My favorites are Fishers Upstairs, Cosmos, and Jesse's in Magnolia Springs. We also usually make the drive to Joe Patti's in Pensacola for fresh seafood we prepare ourselves. Their fresh pompano are great.
