What are the best places for dinner where reservations are not available?

Jacques-Imo's and Galatoire's comes to mind. Any others?

I'd rather sit at the bar then not go at all if I really want to eat somewhere.

It doesn't really matter if the wait is over an hour. Just going to drink until the table is ready. Trying to see what other options are.

Galatoire’s accepts reservations for the upstairs space.

Technically Metairie since it is right over the canal in Bucktown, but Station 6 is awesome.

You named my favorite- Galatoire’s. They do take reservations for upstairs but you don’t want to sit up there.

I believe they are still taking reservations for downstairs, though there is no guarantee that you will be downstairs. They started during Covid.

do you just want to be recommended a place to where you just show up without reservations? Or are you just trying to compile a quirky list?

Because on any smart phone, you can pull up Open Table or Resy and immediately book any place with availability to the nearest half-hour.

Outside of just super super casual type places, how many places in New Orleans actually no longer take reservations? I guess Jacques Imo's still has its goofy anything under 5 dining rule for none, but I'm hard pressed to think of any others at this point.

I'm trying to figure out the same thing. I'm fundamentally not understanding the question.

I suspect someone is coming into town for jazzfest weekend. Hasn't made any reservations anywhere and is finding everything he's looking at now booked. So, he's trying to find alternates he may be able to squeeze in to instead.

There used to be a decent number of such places. Now, not so many. Crepe Nanou takes reservations now.

I thought he wanted to go somewhere with a wait so he could drink a while before eating.
