Bham is a complete dump. The other two are awaiting hurricanes to destroy them.

Mountain brook, Vestavia, Homewood.

I lived in bham for 4 years, and have spent a lot of time in the other places.

Birmingham is not New Orleans (which may be a good thing), but is a beautiful city with a young vibe. The restaurant scene is getting better every day.

Another practical thing to consider in retirement is access to healthcare. UAB is somewhat under the radar compared to other healthcare destinations, but is truly one of the best in the nation.

I feel like the eastern Tennessee/west north Carolina area would be the best bet.

Chattanooga is very central. 6 hours to Panama city. 7-8 to New Orleans or DC.

Moved to PC 3 yrs ago from Bham. It's been great. Live in PC on bay side. PCB is crazy sometimes. Sad thing is we are full there is no room in the Redneck Rivera. Good luck.

we want to live somewhere else warmer & nearer the coast. Wife and I are looking around MS, AL, FL and eastern TN.

I’d be looking at Cape San Blas or St. George, FL if those were my criteria.

Out of your list I have to go with Biloxi or Chattanooga. Biloxi is solid because you get good outdoors, entertainment at casinos, good food scene plus you’re driving distance for any Nola day trips such as Mardi gras or Saints games.

Chattanooga speaks for itself. Needs no intro.

I don't know how we compare to Florida, but the Knoxville area is booming with people moving from California, Illinois, Massachusetts, and New York. House prices are going nuts.
