So Kelly pulled his scholarship? Didn’t he have one last season?

No. He had a scholarship at Nicholls originally and transferred to LSU as a walk on after a good freshman year in FCS. He played in 8 games last year but is still a walk on. Sounds like the staff wasn’t able to find room to give him a scholarship under the 85 cap.

Under most circumstances he would probably receive a scholarship after last year, but it’s a weird situation between the 32 signing class this year, everybody getting an extra COVID year, and a new coaching staff.

Wish the kid the best. People can say he should have stayed and competed, but it’s tough to blame him when he’s not receiving a scholarship.

I think he earned a scholarship after the way he balled out in the bowl game but I don't hand those out.

I guess greg brooks, jay ward are going to play in the nickel spot. hate it for Pig. liked him a lot. so much for "DB depth"

it's a tough situation for the player. without a change in coaching staff, he's likely on scholarship. wish him the best.

Back to Nicholls he goes. Cannot compete on this level every play is why he is leaving!

He could receive a scholarship in 2023 and not count against the 25, but he would count against the 85.

He would count against the 32 if he was put on scholarship this year.

He knew this shite when he transferred.

He litterally said he would be looking for an FBS team from what I read. THinking maybe ULL, ULM, LaTech if he stays in Louisiana. But also said he hopes the SEC, not sure where that would be, maybe FLorida Missouri or Vandy?

Go to La tech, they’ll make it sound like they got an All-Sec DB, talk him up like they stole him from LSU. Wish this man the best, if he can eventually ball out “Pig Cage” the NIL deals are limitless, BBQ joints waiting in line!

Some of you guys have set the bar so low for Brian Kelly it is almost like you expect him to be underwhelming.

Of course we are better than the bowl game. We actually have scholarship QB's now.

I don't expect him to be underwhelming at all. But it will take time.

Assuming Boutte comes back, you're stacked at WR.

You still need a Tight End, and hopefully Emery and Brennan come through.

Regardless, brand new offense. Brennan said himself, all the language is new.

Defensive secondary is questionable and so are linebackers.

Like I said, give it two years and they will be back in form.

Find me 7 wins on the 2022 schedule.

Never seen a walk on garner so much attention. Who gives a rip. Don’t let the door hit you in the rear

Exactly what I first thought. My son wants to be on the LSU football team too…doesn’t mean shite unless you’re good enough.

If its this tight to where LSU can’t give a scholarship to a decent walk-on then how in the HELL can assistant coaches or consultants kids seem to always find a way?

Too bad he couldn’t get an NIL deal like Parker Edwards.

Didn’t get to listen to the entirety of Culotta’s show, but the new staff had him trying to play a lot of corner. pig admittedly knows his best shot at a future in football is at a nickel type position

He played lights out against Catholic in the '19 state championship game, he was just overshadowed by Donovan Kaufman's performance..

Well that stinks. That’s the kind of kids we need on this team.

Kids that quit because they are buried on the depth chart at one position and don't want to stick it out, learn another position and compete? I understand why he feels he needs to leave but that's exactly the type of kids we don't want.
