Just rewatched Decline of Western Civilization. I’m amazed anyone survived The Germs.

Horrible about Hawkins. I’m calling choke jerk, as it takes most of our aging rock stars. Whoever can invent a quick release is going to be very rich.

I’ve been waiting three years to see them at jazz fest. This blows.

Man. What a bummer. One of my favorite memories was FF touring with Motorhead and seeing dads and their daughters going to the same concert for different reasons lol.

I gotta try and find the clip, but it was around one of the GWB elections and someone was interviewing Dave and Taylor about it. They gave their liberal talk points and stumped for whichever the Dem candidate was. After they finished they looked at each other and Dave goes "Taylor did you graduate high school?" "Nah Dave, did you?" "Nope. Then why our they even asking us our opinions?"

Wouldn’t be surprised to see Dave tap Soundgarden/Audioslave drummer Matt Cameron.

I hope Dave and William Goldsmith patched things up, it would be cool to see him and Nate reunite and bring the original lineup full circle as a tribute to Taylor.

They were one of the first major acts to tour after Covid first hit. I wanted to see them, but I wasn't vaxed, and this was before I had access to a fake.

I will not mourn someone who "othered" me. RIP in peace, apartheid bro.

I’m not super big on them but their acoustic shite is not bad, not bad at all. The acoustic album, actually.

RIP!

Badass resume...

quote:

Over the course of his 25-plus-year career, Hawkins recorded and/or played with Elton John, Miley Cyrus, Stevie Nicks, Brian May and Queen, Slash, Pink, Ozzy Osbourne, Heart’s Nancy Wilson, Joe Walsh, Coheed and Cambria, John Fogerty, Glen Campbell, Richard Marx, the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Perry Farrell and Eric Avery of Jane's Addiction, and many others. Additionally, he fronted two bands, Taylor Hawkins & the Coattail Riders and the Birds of Satan; led the classic rock cover band Chevy Metal; and had recently formed the supergroup NHC with Jane's Addiction's Dave Navarro and Chris Chaney. He also portrayed Iggy Pop in the 2013 film CBGB.

Hawkins's final performance with the Foo Fighters was at Lollapalooza Argentina on March 20, 2022. Hawkins died just hours before the band was scheduled to play Festival Estéreo in Bogotá. In lieu of that concert, candles were placed onstage Friday to honor Hawkins.

I am in shock that David wasn't the drummer... this whole death thing brings another layer to my woes.

Why does it seem it's always the drummer to die first?

Man, that is terrible. Love Foo Fighters and he was so important to the band. Prayers out for his family. Just awful.

Congrats on transitioning to a liberal to point out hypocrisy or whatever you’re doing.

Sweet I was hoping there would be a Alanis Morissette expert in here. I kid but it doesn’t change the fact that he was the drummer during such a celebrated time for a pretty huge group during the time. Plus I’d think he didn’t just sit back in the shadows and do his drumming, from what I’ve seen he was a energetic personality in the group as well. shite I guess I’m the Alanis expert now.

Isn’t it ironic?
