You want me to vacuum seal two safes worth of ammo?

Have never even thought of this. Maybe it's not a bad idea but I don't know.

Military Surplus ammo cans are the correct answer here.

No. I did vacuum seal an 8 oz bag of Esoterica Penzance pipe tobacco because I was going to sell it on the secondary market for $300 and I thought wrf am I doing. I couldn't imagine doing ammo.

Makes me wonder if they put a desiccant in vacuum bag too with the ammo. Otherwise all you're doing is sealing the moisture IN with the ammo from the relative humidity when you sealed it. So effectively he's created a dust barrier it appears.

I would think less air= less moisture.

all mine's in either the house with AC, or garage in a safe or boxes with desiccant pouches.

I find this completely idiotic, but I tend to shoot the ammo I buy, not store it long term for internet points.

I have always kept all mine in the house (a/c) in utility room cabinets, never had a problem with shotgun shells or rifle bullets.
Posted on 3/22/22 at 1:31 pm to finchmeister08
I've picked up shotgun shells that have been rolling around the back seat of my truck for 5-6 years and shot them just fine. There may be a case where vacuum sealing is necessary, but modern ammunition stored in a climate controlled home should last longer than the person that purchased it.

Nope. Just good ammo boxes. That seems kind of silly.
Posted on 3/22/22 at 2:12 pm to finchmeister08
I have shot ammo from the world wars that was not sealed and looked to be stored in areas without climate control that worked just fine. We tested ammo after the 2016 floods that was under water for who knows how long and it still shot off at rates above 90%. Nobody has time for this BS. I also have more ammo cans than I could every practically use... but I also am working on my kids ammo collections... I don't even bother to break cases down into cans anymore, its fine.

I think somebody recommended to some dumbass that they vacuum seal everything the shoot. The end result was this..
Posted on 3/22/22 at 2:55 pm to finchmeister08
I just don’t see the point.
I first in first out everything I shoot. I don’t see me ever having ammo much older than 2 or 3 years.
Of course I don’t go nuts and buy thousands of rounds either.

green ammo cans are what you want, that way you can open them when the chit hits the fan. Plus those cans are badass. Harbor freight even sells them now.

It's dumb. It will work or not based only upon the humidity in the place you unseal them. Doesn't matter if you kept them dry for years, you will draw the ambient air moisture into whatever areas pressure equalizes into. And it's a fast transfer, much quicker than any seepage over time. I gotta think that's worse.

Not completed rounds but i do primers. they are not sealed like a completed round would be.
Is is necessary? probably not but i get the bags by the K for cheap so why not add another layer of protection.
I have had power outages that I lost AC.
