He's not a sympathetic figure here. He got fired for his own stupidity. Tell him to study up on "bag men" before his next job after the show cause.

This was a very tough one for me. I know im a grown man and shouldnt care about this. I know im a grown man that has more important shite to do. I know that following LSU basketball for 30ish years while most LSU fans wanted baseball on in January, and hours full of memories shouldnt make this hurt. But it does.

Ill get over it but i believe this one will come back and haunt us. This dude will either collapse on himself in regret, like a dying star, or he will end up finding a program that will have his back whenever.

Will he bury LSU with his fall?

Has anyone else been irrationally sad about this whole thing?

There were certain things that will stay private. I wish I could mention some of them. It’s really frustrating the way it was handled by LSU admin— I thought Woodward was our “one of us” golden boy.

I posted similar sentiments. I was thrilled to get rid of aleva and f king. Then these two do the same shite. I hope Woodward is booed the same way alleva was. I’m pissed. I’ve been following since I was in grade school and this is the best most consistent the team has been possibly ever since I’ve been watching and I was at games with Shaq and Chris Jackson.

I love hearing wade’s take. I watch all the post games on YouTube. I think this is a terrible move and I feel as betrayed by Woodward as alleva. As an lsu fan first and foremost I hope they make a great hire, but I’ve really soured on woodward and how this was handled and I hate that Wade isnt our coach. I also loathe Forde Vitale and all the hypocrites who’ve had pitchforks ready for the outsider for years that lead to current situation.

Thanks for posting Ice.

God I wish we’d have kept him and just dealt with the show cause whatever it may be. Unless we orchestrated a deal that prevented the 2019 natty from being taken, I don’t get firing him. It’s gonna be a rebuild anyway, why fire him?

I know Woodward does want LSU to be the best in everything, but he has handled some things in questionable fashion - see awkward-arse press conference with O to announce his canning.

He thought the NCAA "storm" would eventually clear? He CREATED the storm for LSU.

He's as dirty as they come, and he's completely responsible for his own problems. He got exactly what he deserved.

Should have told the quite truth 3 years ago and this wouldn't be happening...frick him and his victim positioning.

Not irrationally but LSU basketball stock just hit the foundation with its fall. You lose your recruits, the trust, and the money that comes from season ticket holders\whoever is in the seats.

Woodward has all the right to fire based on the contract. Not mad at him, just mad at the program and its infrastructure. Hard to explain.

No, there are worse out there in college basketball when it comes to recruiting. He was dumb with how he went about things and showed his youth, but you're naive if you think he is as dirty as they come.

The story is true about him getting fired over the phone and the players finding out on Twitter. Adam Miller, Fudge, and Murray took it the hardest

I get that he handled things like an amateur, but that part is totally amateur on LSU's part and completely shitty. At least contact the players that have committed to the university and tell them in a dignified way.

Whether you or I like Wade is irrelevant. Did Woodward and LSU terminate him for cause too soon? I don’t think so.

This was inevitable. Ultimately you can not. You simply can not get caught on a federal wire tap talking about a “strong arse offer” to a recruit.

Was that partly just bad luck bcs he wasn’t the target? Of course it is but the point remains. No employer is gonna keep someone who gets caught so red handed.

The NCAA was gonna get their pound of flesh. No not because LSU isn’t a blue blood it’s because literally Wade was caught on tape, on text and in bank records paying players, family, exes.

Folks in other threads have talked about Bill Self, others about Zion and Duke.

Self, even in the NOA and certainly in the KU response argue that Self didn’t know anything about the allegations and the NOA never alleged he paid anyone. The NOA states that bcs Self was the HC he either knew or should have known. He has a firewall. Plausible deniability.

On Zion the house in question is a booster’s property. Not Coach K’s.

Even Pitino who is a blue blood coach and got run out of town to nowhere-ville NY was not accused of personally exchanging cash.

It’s not that Will paid players it’s he was sloppy about it and left a paper, $$ and audio trail.

I get folks love him. But you gotta be honest about what he did and HOW he did it.

He’s getting a show cause. It’s coming. Even if Woodward didn’t fire him, Wade will be out of college coaching for a bit.

So sure be sad. Be mad. Be whatever you want. But be honest about what Will did and the smoking guns he left behind.

Best LSU basketball coach ever. Point blank. 4/5 years in the tournament taking over a team 2-16 in the league

At the end of the day, tPear did himself in. But I’m still gonna miss him a lot. It was a good ride and the excitement and energy he brought to LSU basketball was really refreshing.

As someone who is a bigger basketball than football fan, this one has hit harder than Saban.

Struggling with it and questioning my current level of financial support of LSU athletics.

Woodward received the NOA on Tuesday last week and still let Wade coach the SECT, but pulls the plug when the NOA was about to become public. Not sure what was gained there, it was not about doing the right thing as soon as the NOA was received, it was about avoiding bad PR. Thought Woodward was better than that, this is the type of gutless move that I would expect from Alleva and King.

Unless Woodward cut a deal that included firing Wade, there is no benefit to firing when we did. If he did cut that type of deal, I would be out on all financial support until he is gone.

He is I think a great coach who will go on to be a great coach. Isn’t it sad how many of us loved him for the kind of guy he was. loyal, aggressive, fun loving guy, super intelligent, players coach, and we are just so sad to see him leave us. I wanted him to be there for long term. Good luck Coach Will Wade, you will not be soon forgotten. God Speed
