I truly believe that it wasn't just basketball related and in some part Wade took the fall for the heat around the athletic department as a whole especially football....

FWIW, I'm happy and relieved that people are upset about the state of the MBB program. It shows people still care. With a good team, MBB can be one of the most exciting college sports to support. I will say, there's definitely a nostalgia factor with CBS. There were a lot of great LSU games on CBS when I was a kid that are still embedded in my head to this day. Definitely a certain feeling hearing that CBS music on a cool autumn afternoon.
