If you can find a King Kooker,

I linked a King Kooker in my last comment. Does the burner that comes with it look ok? I could get the pot and burner separate. Trying to stay under $200.

I just depends on what you are realistically going to do. I have 80 quart stainless and a double rocket burner. It’s perfect for what I do. But I don’t regularly feed 20+ at a boil. For my size I usually drop 2 boils plus another drop of veggies and that will do my typical crowd.

Realistically it'll be between 6-8 people most times. Mostly me and my wife and siblings Places around here do sell half sacks, so 30lbs. The sister-in-law wants a boil for her birthday. Probably about 6 people total and only 3 of them are from Nola. Most Texans I know, even the ones who say they like crawfish, do about 1-2 lbs a piece. My Nola peeps do about 5 lbs. I think 80qt will be more than adequate for my needs

I got an 80 and a 160. If 1 sack (32-38lbs), I use the 80. Fits everything I need it to. Sometimes shite floats out, I use a long handled strainer to scoop anything out that’s not in the pot strainer.

hmm. 7.5 minute boil time on a 120qt pot with a 3 minute reboil? Triple jet burner? 4mm aluminum?

I MUST HAVE IT

You don’t need stainless. I’ve got an aluminum pot that I have had for over 20 years. Don’t waist your money on any pot that is smaller than 100 quart

Personally I prefer a tripod burner, I find they are more stable. But I think that one would be fine. 180K BTU is good.

The all in ones... I always wonder how hard they are to fix when something breaks.

Also that price...

What difference does it make? Its knowing how to cook them, not what you cook them in.

Your in Texas, get a small one because you wont waste as many crawfish because we all know Texans cant cook crawfish

What brands are quality? I'm in Dallas. I'm considering Bayou Classic stainless steel 82qt pot.

I bought this exact pot as a package with the stainless tripod jet burner a few years back. Got it all for around $200 on sale.

It’s a good size. I do sacks in the 30-35 pound range and fixings and it holds everything. No complaints.

80 Quart will be fine. I have an 80 quart and can do a sack with the fixings with no issue at all. I now have a 120 quart, I can do 2 sacks in it. Look at Winco Aluminum on the webstaraunt website. They sell a quality pot, the wall is 4mm thick.

Same here. I'm baffled at the people in here saying an 80qt isn't big enough. They must own a 60 and THINK it's an 80.

It still doesn't make any sense to get an 80 over a 100. If you need to do 3 sacks ever you can 1.5 sacks in a 100 so you only have to do 2 boils. You can't fit 1.5 sacks in an 80 without them being crammed and overflowing at best.

I'm sure it's nice, but no way I'm spending 6 hudos on a pot to boil mud bugs.

I have had a bayou classic double jet burner and 100qt aluminum for 13+ years. I think it’s the perfect one sack set up.

I can’t understand the infatuation with these ridiculous sized, unpractical boilers that are popular these days.

Pot with basket, burner, paddle, a few #3 tubs to wash, and a tank of fuel. All light, store within themselves.

Thats what I use to do. My BIL gave me a 100lb chlorine bucket with a screw on lid. I drilled a hole in the btm and put a bulkhead fitting and hose fitting that I screw my hose to, drilled some 3/4" in the top. Makes a good crawfish washer for under $10 bucks in material and its way easier to get the crawfish out.

I’ve actually upgraded to a basket and a tub for washing. Still fits inside. Championship.

You want something that’s a game-changer, install a depressed drain area where you boil so you can just pour the water in instead of lugging it around the back yard to a ditch.
