They really shouldn't. I responded once and regret it. Dude thinks that ROFL emojis substitute for logic and coherence.

I just scroll past his posts now. We've had entertaining trolls in the past; he isn't one of them.

There's a massive Russian attack underway at Avdiivka. This is the suburb north of Donetsk that has been contested since 2014.

Ukraine is claiming that they are destroying tremendous amounts of Russian armor (and there videos coming out confirming some of those claims), but Russia is gaining ground.

There's a Ramstein-style meeting going on now in Brussels. Zelensky is there. The American $200 million package is expected ammo stuff, the UK is sending another $140 million worth of stuff, but the biggest stories right now are that:

- Germany is sending another Patriot battery and more IRIS-T air defense, and
- Belgium has reversed its previous decision and will now send F-16s to Ukraine, though probably not until 2025.

British Defence Intelligence
INTELLIGENCE UPDATE
UPDATE ON UKRAINE 11 October 2023

The Russian military is facing a mental health crisis. In December 2022, Russian psychologists identified approximately 100,000 military personnel suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This number is almost certainly now higher as the Russian military fails to provide sufficient rotation and recuperation from the battlefield.

This was a problem highlighted by multiple commanders, including the former 58th Combined Arms Army's General-Major Ivan Popov who was relieved of command in July 2023.

There are additional indications that doctors in Russia are sending military personnel who are unfit to fight to the front. Appeal claims against Russian military medical commissions are higher in 2023 than they were in 2022, with many cases denied or claims abandoned.

With a lack of care for its soldiers' mental health and fitness to fight, Russia's combat fighting effectiveness continues to operate at sub-optimal levels.

Denmark will hand over the first F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine in the spring of 2024, the Kingdom's defense minister said.

I wish we already had them, but, at least this ensures long-term security.

That's Ukraine's most fortified town. Bakhmut doesn't even compare. There's bunkers and tunnels going through that entire area.

Putin is trying to cleanse the area while ensuring NATO doesn't get any closer to Russia. He warned NATO years and years ago but you all go with MSM for some odd reason.

You mean the same Putin who said NATO isn't an enemy and asked to join NATO years and year ago? And then decided against pursuing it?

quote:

Russia is part of European culture. And I cannot imagine my own country in isolation from Europe and what we often call the civilised world. So it is hard for me to visualise NATO as an enemy,” said Putin, the country’s acting president in 2000, three weeks before the election, which made him president.

At the time, Putin’s words were interpreted as extending an olive branch to the West. Since then, Putin has been in power, rising to the occasion and becoming the sole decision-maker of the country.

The same year, according to the then-NATO chief George Robertson, Putin bluntly asked: “When are you going to invite us to join Nato?” Robertson advised the Russian president that he needs to “apply to join NATO” and not expect an invitation.

quote:

In 1993, a US State Department document even designated 2005 as a deadline for Moscow’s as well as Kiev’s “accession to the bloc,” wrote Simon Saradzhyan, the founding director of the Russia Matters Project at Harvard Kennedy School’s Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs.

In 1997, NATO and Russia agreed to form the NATO-Russia Founding Act, which defined the ways to work together and to cooperate with each other. They also founded the NATO-Russian Discussion Council in 2002.

In 1992, Russia and the former USSR countries were offered the opportunity to join NATO's ‘Partnership for Peace’ (PFP), and they all joined, including Russia. We hoped it would be an entry point into NATO and several PFP members joined. Russia even sent a brigade to serve under NATO in Bosnia in 1995. Things looked good in those days,” Erickson tells TRT World

quote:

In his early years, Putin saw Russia’s “integration with the West and its institutions” as a policy priority of the time, according to Simons. But he did not want to stand “in line with a lot of countries that don’t matter” to enter NATO. Putin’s rise to power was also largely related to the support of Siloviki, an anti-Western alliance of Russian security establishment.

After some threatening developments in the former Soviet territories, ranging from Chechen War to NATO’s continuing expansion and growing pro-democratic movements across both Georgia and Ukraine, Putin and his alliance appeared to be persuaded that being part of the Western alliance could not be a real option.

“Many old school Russians (like Putin) bitterly resented America's rise to hyper-power status. In the 21st Century, Putin has tried to revive Russian power. He needs an enemy to rally national pride against, and the US & NATO fill that need,” Erickson sees.

And now he has a new 830 mile border with a NATO nation - Finland. Putin remains a master strategist. It's embarrassing that some people swallow Russian propaganda without giving it any actual thought.

Yes

The initial narrative

What was happening during the denail.

And then

Begin at 4:45 if you want to skip ahead.

It's all a lie full of dirty money exchanging hands. Just not ours. They have painted Putin to be the devil for such a reason. I'm not all about Russia but our government could care less about us. Look at our southern boarder, crimes in major cites, failing education. You think our government gives a darn about the Ukrainian people, hell no. It's about money and control. Kill of your adversary, destroy your own country and boom communism can begin.

Hope you all really like to eat ze bugs and own nothing. It's what you are rooting for.

Ukrainian sources are also reporting on the assault now

quote:

According to several Ukrainian sources, Russia began a large-scale assault on both flanks of the Avdiivka front yesterday with armor, artillery, and aviation.

LINK

quote:

Two Russian improvised personnel carriers based on MT-LB armored vehicles were damaged and abandoned after running over anti-tank landmines during the recent Russian attack on Avdiivka, #Donetsk Oblast.

LINK

Rybars take
quote:

Intense fighting continues in the vicinity of the Avdiivka fortified area, where the Russian army is relentlessly advancing, trying to take the city in a «cauldron».

Ukrainian troops, under crushing artillery fire and air raids, are gradually giving up their positions. The situation on the front line remains extremely tense.

LINK I don't understand how it's both tense and Russia is advancing relentlessly but OK

And in other news
quote:

Lithuania to transfer 2 NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine

"Our new military support package includes delivery of two NASAMS launchers that we bought in the summer, acquisition of 155 mm ammunition and winter supplies, such as electric generators, army camp beds, clothing."

LINK

quote:

The spokeswoman for Ukraine's southern military command, Nataliya Gumenyuk, said that modernized Russian Lancet loitering munitions are now capable of hitting targets at 60-70km compared to 40km earlier in the war.

LINK

quote:

The USA has announced a new $200 million aid package for Ukraine

This is reported on the Pentagon's website.

The new aid package includes AIM-9M air defense missiles, equipment for countering unmanned aerial systems (c-UAS), additional ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS), additional artillery shells of 155 mm and 105 mm caliber, precision aviation munitions, electronic warfare equipment, missiles for TOW, AT-4, small arms and more than 16 million rounds of ammunition, explosive obstacle-crossing munitions, spare parts, training ammunition, maintenance and other field equipment.

Furthermore, annexing Ukraine would push Russia’s borders even closer to NATO, its all BS.

Rybar is a sunshine pumper for the Russian military.

Confirmed gains are minimal, at best, according to all of the mapping sources. That doesn't mean Russia won't break through / can't break through, just that there aren't confirmed breakthroughs yet.

This is a good time to remind everyone of the glorious Russian offensive towards Kupyansk that went nowhere.

This increasingly looks like a deadly but frozen conflict.

Russia already had 5 borders with NATO-- the two sides of the Kalinangrad frontier, and Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia's eastern borders.

There's no 'closer'; there's no 'Russian lebensraum' that NATO is sullying by talking to the Ukranians about possible membership.

Never conceed that nonsense to the Russophile.
