My Grandmother is 100 years old today

It boggles my mind that I'm 52 and still have a grandmother and have a father who at almost 73 still has his 100 year old mother.
I'd say I'm lucky that it's in my genes .. alas he's my step father but it makes no difference.
We celebrated at the LTC where she resides ... it was such a blessing!! She's not sure of the day, the season or who you are BUT she's as spunky as they come and healthy as a horse.
Just for fun, she was from the area of Tennessee where parts were made for the Atomic Bomb .. she was an employee at a facility there but had no idea at the time what her job was, other than to watch gauges .. she she was an operator before operators were a thing.
So happy birthday to my Momzie, and if you ever got to meet her, she'd tell you "I'm so glad that you got to see me!!!".

She would have likely known Civil War veterans as a young child. That's amazing.

That’s awesome!
I know I’m incredibly blessed to be 41 & still have my Grandfather
Nothing better than listening to their stories about growing up

That's awesome. My last living grandparent died in 2018 at 99. He barely missed 100 by a few months.

Cool story, sis.
Happy Birthday to your grandma!
And to think, she was almost 20 yrs old when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor.

My mom passed when she turned 95. Up until the last few mths, she was fully conscious & aware of her surroundings. My sister had the brilliant idea to hand her a tape recorder & over a period of a few weeks, Mom taped her life story. Obviously there were some gaps & I am sure some parts left uncovered, but we now have several hours of Mom telling her life story in her own words. Just her talking about all the now - every - day- things that had been invented during her life time was remarkable & highly entertaining. Numerous copies have been made & this will be a family heirloom to be passed down to all the following generations yet to come.

That's really cool. I recently watched a show about the operators at that facility.
