I was chatting with a Vietnam vet today and we were talking about the unfortunate sad state of affairs our country is in. He made a statement that surprised me and I wanted you guys’ take on it. He stated that he firmly believes that in the near future, the USA will start drafting people into the armed forces again like they did in the Vietnam era.

He said that the military is sorely lacking for new recruits and the overall numbers are way down. He was concerned about our country’s ability to defend itself in a major conflict, and that our country would have no choice but to start the draft again.

Do you agree with what he said? Should we start expecting mandatory military service in our country soon?

You mean attack other countries. Maybe they should stop doing that all the time and people would trust our bankster corrupt evil government in DC.

considering what he went through, his fears are understandable

but I don't think we fight wars the same way as back then

Probably not a wholesale draft. I have always thought that a minimum military requirement for males wouldn't be a terrible idea. Finland and other countries do it.

War or support for war should be a national referendum where those who support war have to fight.

It's easy to push war on someone else's kid.

No.

Recruiting has waxed and waned over the years.

I assumed China was preemptively striking us by using the Mexican cartels to push fentanyl into the states, wiping out a huge chunk of likely recruits.

Can crackheads fight wars?

The all volunteer Army was a big deal and you will never see the draft return.

We are closer to deploying an all robot Army, than we are to bring back the draft.

In this political climate nowadays, there’s absolutely no way conscription will happen.

Difference is Finland doesn’t use their military to go fight conflicts to protect it’s politicians financial interests

has he looked around and seen the average 18-22 year old in modern america? I don't think picking a random sampling of them is gonna help our cause

The chances the next "war" has a ton of land infantry is probably low.

If there was a land war then I could see a draft happening again. But it wouldn't be until a conflict arose IMO

It might give a lot of trash balls some direction, instead of illegally doing donuts in public intersections in their Dodge Chargers.
