He is not a great coach. And a good coach won't cut it here this time around. Everybody wants a great coach this time dammit!!! Campbell is far from great.

Imagine what just a GOOD coach would do at LSU. LSU won two National Championships led by two buffoons.

This may be the biggest hire of his career and if he blows it, he’s going to have a hell of a time as AD at LSU from here on out.

Notre Dame/Kelly is getting close to making the playoffs.

I would think all playoff coaches would be off the board.

I think it's either Brian Kelly or Matt Rhule. The Rhule possibility is really interesting when you look at what's been happening in Carolina. Why did they bring Cam back and quickly give him the reigns. He's not a Rhule style QB and ownership just made the decision for him. May be reading that wrong, but it wouldn't surprise me if he leaves the Panthers during their bye week next week

“You’re going to love it” regarding LSU’s next head football coach. I’m assuming when he states “everyone” that Scarborough is including LSU boosters, LSU big donors, former players and LSU brass.
There is only one person that fits that description and although he truly is a white whale, nobody on this board considers it possible.

Saban - near unanimous support among LSU fans?

In the words of Jake McCandles “Not hardly”.

Lot of us who have followed LSU Football for a long time, that have too much dignity to accept that.

We paid him to do a job and he did it. He Chose to move on and regretted it. Tried hard to come back a couple times and we said no. Since 2007 he has done everything he can to hurt LSU at every opportunity.

7 years from now he can be invited back for the 25th anniversary.

He's confident in the search and selection. And, so am I. Regardless of who he gets, I trust that he's looked at all angles. He's earned that by landing Mulkey and Jay Johnson. Nobody even dreamed that he could get Mulkey to revive WBB, and he made it look easy. Nobody even thought about Jay Johnson, and he's seemingly a monster get taking over a sleeping giant.

I would venture to say that if Woodward didn’t have his man, he wouldn’t be saying shite to anyone.

Don’t kid yourself. Some frickers around here would complain that he’s too old.

Can't imagine a hire that everybody will "love." Many want Riley. Almost as many want Aranda. I suspect many would like Fickell. Saban is not coming. Nobody wants Jimbo. Very few would be accepting of Campbell or Mark Stoops.

Everyone sane would be happy with Riley. Same with Rhule. Aranda would also potentially fit the bill given how much he's liked within the department.

Basically, the way I'm reading it is that he has his guy for sure and it's not Napier from the rumored candidates. Also probably not Aranda.

I find it hard to believe that the man, who has been so careful up to this point, would all of the sudden start strutting around and being braggy, knowing it could get back to the potential new hire, which could be bad if the new coach was still thinking it through.
