Why would Lane leave in the middle of a Playoff run

Sure they don’t have the team (most likely) to go all the way, but you think he leaves in the dead middle of a playoff run?

Cause they are forcing his hand, ole Miss sucks, and other coaches do it too. Next

An ultimatum typically pisses most people off. And this is Lane Kiffin we are talking about. Probably the worst person you could give an ultimatum too.

Have you read any threads on this board today before posting this?

He left Bama right before the National Championship for FAU

It sounds like Ole Miss is forcing his hand. Doesn’t really qualify as him “leaving during a run” (assuming he does in fact leave).

Because they arent winning a natty
They struggled with Florida at home like LSU

Because nobody is going to tell Lane what to do

I mean it’s Lane Kiffin. Drama calls him like a moth to a flame. Of course he would
Great hire if it comes together

Because when you make a decision like this, you don't get to pick and choose the time when you get to leave. Usually the school wants you gone Right away!

Wasn’t Kelly also in the middle of a playoff run?

The best thing for lsu is ole miss is forcing his hand. He can leave and not look like the bad guy (as much as he would look that way on his own)

Because you're dumbass employer forced you to by placing a decision deadline prior to the end of your season

My thoughts exactly. Lane isn't exactly the guy you wanna play chicken with in this situation.

There is definitely not HIS choice.. OM is giving him an ultimatum and also, whoever he goes to will want to be able to announce it in time to retain current players and get guys in the early transfer

Because ole piss administration is ran by a bunch of panicking babies and trying to force Lane’s hand

You do realize this would include LSU as his employer if he comes here too, right? This is sort of like marrying a woman who cheated on her last three husbands, under the promise that it won’t happen to you too. Fools rush in. If this does come to pass, LSU will get similarly burned and better not be surprised when it happens.

Well…. That have been because Saban told him to leave
Posted on 11/17/25 at 4:51 pm to gsvar2004
Cause he is lane kiffin and that ole miss team isn't winning a chip even if he stays.
This is the same guy that left Saban right before a championship game. Or Saban told him to leave. Either way.

- They aren’t winning a natty
- Schedule next few years is way tougher
- 2 of the very few jobs (maybe 5 total?) he’d consider leaving for are open in the same window
- Since this is as far as he can realistically take OM, he’s at the top of the wave and his appeal can only go one direction
- OM miscalculated horribly on forcing him to make a decision
