re: What will the reaction be if they hire Jimbo Fisher. I'm just curious.

and no he didn't run that program into the ground, he won more than his predecessors last couple of seasons (and obviously a lot more than his successors). If you knew about their admin you'd know that they refuse to support the program in the way Jimbo needed and is the main reason he left. He's certainly elevated A&M's program.

And, obviously, clearly, LSU is easier to win at than FSU. And even A&M slightly.

He'd never have a losing season at LSU under him.

Is LSU that much better of a coaching gig than A&M?

I just dont see it.....

Agreed. Jimbo would do well here. I believe he could attract a solid DC with LSUs history of having great defenses and stud defensive players. That coupled with a well coached offense would be nice to see

I think I recently heard that A&M has the 3rd highest winning % over the last few years in the league only behind bama and Georgia. Things haven’t been great over there but considering what they’ve been up against, there’s no denying they’ve been steadily projecting upward. Aggies do not want to lose jimbo

The same as any other coach besides Saban . They would even complain about a Saban hire

what a ringing endorsement

A 30 year old offense and a coach who checks out on his team. Where do I sign up?!?

He was actually 5-6 his last year at FSU.

Odell Haggins coached the last two games.

He's a good coach, just pray his wife doesn't cheat on him.

Because he will quit on you.

People are downvoting you, but it’s pretty meh. W-L & what you think of the A&M program aside... He’s an offensive coach, but A&M is not fielding / has not fielded an impressive modern offense to date.

Not a disaster but feels like safe settling.

Probably a National Title, in the next few years.

Lynch Scott Woodward would be my suggestion.

I just can't help but think about how much more insufferable A&M fans would be if they beat LSU after that hire, and that's saying a lot because they are already pretty damned insufferable.

Overall I don't think it would be a bad hire, but not amazing. You could say that about many candidates though.I will say he would probably bring stability, where we would be rolling the dice with many of the other names mentioned. I personally would love an up and comer and hope we hit a home run, but I'm not an AD, and would probably be a lousy one if I was...

Fisher isn't going to take this program to another level consistently. I still think you're looking at floating between 8-10 wins consistently.

I've said it before: Jimbo is Les Miles with better speech patterns.

I'm going with a quick national title, once he gets the QB situation sorted out. Jimbo's hire might finish off Nick and send him into retirement.

That is when we will be glad Jimbo got the job. We could get multiple of these

that's because you're a drama queen

If you didn't disavow the program when O was hired, there definitely isn't reason to for a jimbo hire.

I wouldn’t melt. I’d be cautiously optimistic. I think he’d be Les Miles (in his Lesticles days) 2.0.

9-3 and 10-2 constantly and playoffs maybe once every five years, but always second fiddle to the gumps.

What about Jimbo's offense is outdated?

Here are the A&M/Alabama highlights. Link to a formation and/or play that is considered to be outdated.

The thing with that is it's one game and it's highlights. The problem with Jimbo's offense is those 2 or 3 games every year where Jimbo's gameplan is to absolutely refuse to score more than 17 points. There are games when his gameplan is awful, and when he panics he for some reason wants to throw every down instead of running the ball and trying to regain the offense's footing. His play designs also put a lot of pressure on the OL, and if the OL isn't great then things blow up. He gets out of rhythm as a playcaller and you get false starts, formation penalties, delay of game, etc. I don't think he'll give that offense up any time soon. He let Randy Sanders call plays a few times at FSU and yes Randy sucks as an OC but Jimbo barely let him have a drive before he took over

Don’t let the door hit you if so. I was never about the O hire and knew it would fail spectacularly at some point - luckily we got a great season beforehand - but I still supported him and the team.

Jimbo isn’t my first choice but he would do well and likely win a NC here, plus 10+ games nearly every season. To think otherwise about one of the most successful current HC out there is just disengenious. Not #1 but I’d be happy knowing we made a big upgrade and would do well, starting with recruiting.
