It’s no secret that there is mutual interest. Whether it’s a money thing to get aTm to pony up more or legit, there is something there.

Pretty much this. I would be fine by this hire if he showed real progression to evolve his offensive philosophy. He'd need the stones to possibly relinquish his duties as the offensive play caller which is not happening. Not really sure how he'd fix our culture issues either. He's not exactly known to be a great disciplinary coach especially with the shambles he left FSU in.

Relief. The program will stabilize and get back on a winning track. Less experienced coaches would be more risky but I could get behind many on the list.

What about Jimbo's offense is outdated?

Here are the A&M/Alabama highlights. Link to a formation and/or play that is considered to be outdated.

WE basically go back to 2012 and Les Miles football. 9-3, 9-3, 9-3, 9-3..

Not a bad hire if that’s the direction they go, however, they won’t go this direction. After how the last AD played jimbo why would he leave A&M right now with all that money he is getting.

Fisher would be so uninspiring and what you'd have to pay could not be justified.

The guy is dropping home games to Miss State in year 4. Now it looks like his answer to take the next step is to buy a bunch of for sale recruits. He's closer to Les Miles than Nick Saban.

I don’t understand why he would leave . He is settled in Texas . Makes a ton of money , A&M will give him MORE money if he wants . Great facilities , he gets along with administration . He is NOT getting any younger , btw .

He'd do better at LSU than at A&M (soft culture; overrated recruiting base). He's not my favorite, but I'd be ok with the hire. The A&M melt alone would make it worth it.

He has zero reasons to leave. He hand picked the AD. Has the full support of the Chancellor and President.

There are a number of facility upgrades planned in the near future.

He is stacking top 5 classes.

Why would he leave?

He'd recruit his arse off, even better than Ed.

And we'd average 10 wins. He also has the personality to fit in with our fanbase. He's a really good coach that has been the best Aggy has seen in a long time.

Much easier to win at LSU.

I'd be absolutely fine with it. I would hope he would be open to the idea of bringing in a young OC that has some fresh spread ideas that he can incorporate into his offense. He runs the same offense he did at LSU under Saban basically, needs a slight refresh.

Low floor. Arguably low ceiling.

Uhh very high floor. That is the best part. We aren't having a losing season with Jimbo. We aren't having a program killing type season.

Low floor hire is Ed Orgeron and we're currently scraping the bottom.

I wouldn't disagree his ceiling is a slightly lower than others because I don't think he'll ever be an Urban/Saban/Dabo guy, but the floor is one of the highest. He is not an unknown. He knows how to recruit at an elite level, his teams are well-coached, and he is a solid program manager.

I think we average 10 wins and are in playoff consideration every 2-3 years in December with a Jimbo hire.

There's a recent quote from him that said something like he has ran the exact same offense for 30 years.

It's not bad, but it's not innovative or exciting either IMO. I would hope he'd be open to installing some new looks.
