We need to promote and recommend Tulane hire coach O and his son(s).

I would be absolutely shell shocked if Peoples took a massive pay cut just to follow Baker to Tulane if he went. Regardless of relationship, most position coaches/ coordinators wouldn’t take the same position at a G5 school when they are at a big time power 4 SEC school already making way more than Tulane would ever offer them.

Peoples and Jake Olsen will probably follow him to Tulane.

Olsen probably stays. Peoples is 50/50.

Williams is probably out regardless.

Raymond stays unless forced out.

Our assistants make more than their coordinators get a grip

Why would they follow him to Tulane? Would be a massive pay cut

Great point! Blake makes $2.5 million a year as a DC. Tulane was paying Sumrall around $3 million from some estimates. My guess is Blake will get a raise, but not a big one to be Tulane’s head coach. Way more responsibility, but almost the same money. He is doing it to prove himself as a head coach. These other guys like Raymond, Peeples, etc. would take pretty big pay cuts to go to Tulane. Baker will be looking for an entire staff because Tulane can’t pay their coordinators like LSU pays their position coaches.

What about PSU dc? Their defenses are pretty stout.

I don’t know about Peoples, but Olson would prob follow him and be at least Co-DC.

I keep seeing post Kyle Williams is moving on regardless of whether they want to retain or not. Is he looking to move back into HS coaching or another college? I know Sean McDermott wanted him to stay with the Bills when he retire so maybe NFL?

Since LSU is in the biz of taking from other SEC teams , just take DJ from Auburn and he can bring some guys with him.

Napier could build Tulane into a powerhouse G5 school. Remember Boise St's run?

Why would they go to a minor conference with cuts in pay to continue to be assistant coaches?

No thanks. He was part of the ‘recruit players to Houston’ team that was left behind after Fritz took the Houston job. I realize he went to LSU for a season but apparently the Houston fan base wasn’t sold on him as an OC. The guy that was the real OC in 2022 that got us to the Cotton bowl was let go……eeeerrrr decided to go back to the Midwest (or wherever) to be closer to family. Slade was not really the’mastermind’ behind 2022.

How exactly do you think coordinators get the sufficient experience required to be offered that role at elite programs? They don’t wake up one day ready

If Baker wants Peeples at Tulane, his compensation as DC will almost certainly entail a premium to his current $700k at LSU. While on the high side, it’s still within the range of a G5 DC anyway

I definitely wouldn’t be disappointed with that hire. And he and Kiffin have obviously worked together before.

People’s is 55 years old and has never been a coordinator in his career. He’s never called a defense in a game. Maybe he wants to move up? I don’t know? He makes $700K as a position coach and the average G5 coordinator makes around $500K.
