I didn’t think he’d really go with Ensminger...but it just may happen. It’s the safe pick and Orgeron has been making safe calls lately

I have a hard time believing that Briles is not the primary target. And I have a hard time believing that Briles' "baggage" would be a deal breaker for Alleva. That's gotta be some Rosy Finch Scona propaganda and rhetoric, because after all this bullshite, if we end up with Ensminger as OC then Alleva should be publicly caned in shame.

So Matt has a negative amount of connections ?

Anyway considering Alleva’s past it’s funny he’d eliminate anyone because of perceived baggage

I want Coach O to have full autonomy on his hires. I don’t trust Alleva at all having any influence. I also don’t want him to make a hire based on PR or fan support.

I don’t want any excuses going forward. I’m assuming O has a short leash. This experiment is either going to crash & burn within the next two years, or it’s going to work.

I don’t want the slide to take 3 or 4 years. For all those that think O is in over his head, then give him enough rope to hang himself.

Laman can we actually say this is indeed the case though? Wouldn't surprise me if JA was in favor of promoting from within again.
Tigerbaitlawyer says otherwise. Apparently JA is keeping O's promises in check, particularly the one about always seeking out and hiring top notch coordinators. JA knows his job lives or dies on O. He's not going to allow O to sink the ship. I just hope JA doesn't sink the ship himself!

They've both been terrible. Alleva with O and O with Mickey and Canada, who he immediately undercut.

The shite show has allowed Mickey to fly under the radar for being terrible. I never would have thought hiring an under qualified coach to appease some idiot NOLA coaches that overvalue themselves wouldn’t turn out well

It’s actually ironic. It looks like as much as O wants to have a guy he can interfere with and then make a scapegoat if it fails, Alleva is doing the same to O.

Why not at least take a shot at Pete Carmichael? He's a strong offensive mind that will always be stuck behind Sean Payton when it comes to calling plays.

Saban and Bama should be the least of our worries these days.

Finishing 2nd or 3rd in the West next year would be a small miracle the way things look right now.

he's playing for a 6th National title in 9 years...he's kicking everyone's arse, it is what it is

Auburn was 1st in the west and controlled their own destiny to the playoff.

I have a question for everyone.

I have watched Canadas offense in the past

It definitely looked VERY different this year, seemed nothin like what he typically did in the past. It looked like a watered down version of trash compared to the types of plays he liked to run in the past. Yes we had jet sweeps and other little motions but watching a lot of his offenses over his career. This year looked extremely off base with what he typically likes to do. The only stuff that looked similiar to his past offenses was the flipping of lineman and tight ends across the formation.

It really seemed like something handicapped what he wanted to do/or usually does. It seemed like O wanted a certain style, while Canada wanted another, and it became a mixed up trash product with zero consistency

Does anyone see what I see?

Fans may bitch about the stuff they saw this year but how can you do your job if you are hired for what you do well and are directed to do something not what you normally do?

That is great news if true, it would be a relief to know JA is actually worried about something for a change. If true one would almost have to believe it won't be Steve as OC then. Now it has to be Briles if that's the short list to be a HR, Just hope it's all true.

Nah alleva knows he's gone if O fails. That's why he had a meeting earlier in the year and told O to stay the frick out of Canada's offense and that's why he gave O a massive buyout when it was completely unnessesary. He wanted to give him and O a longer leash by making it financially difficult for LSU to move on (which makes F King smile because he doesn't want the football program being extravagant and making LSU look bad compared to the rest of the state)

Funny thing is we are spending just as much money on O, expensive coordinators and expensive coordinator buyouts than we would if we would've just got a competent coach from the jump.

All on O’s short list, also said to expect official Canada announcement this week. ...so Joe Lombardi?

Been say this is all a dog a pony show to explain away hiring ensminger.

??it’s just the god ole boys??

I hope so! I've heard there is definitely interest. KB would definitely be a HR hire!

Maybe O was handcuffing him; maybe he just didn't have the weapons he needed (specifically QB).
