Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees has emerged as the top target for @AlabamaFTBL’s OC job. Rees has had discussions with Nick Saban and is scheduled to be on campus Thursday, sources tell ESPN. Saban is looking to replace Bill O’Brien, who left for the Patriots’ OC job.

Not exciting, but maybe he could do something with Alabama’s talent.

Anyone still upset over Rees not coming to LSU obviously didn’t watch ND play this year.

ND fans are going to be doing the jig if this goes through.

That would be a shame. ND might hire a real OC.

@BudElliott3
A Tommy Rees - Todd Grantham Alabama coordinator combo would be interesting.

Alabama fans might favor a different descriptor.

Genuine question - would going from Bill O'Brien and Pete Golding to Tommy Rees and Todd Grantham be an upgrade or downgrade?

Rees needs a babysitter so I can see it working out

USC's defense almost looked average against ND's offense. Good luck.

This is hilarious and highly unlikely. I don't think ND fans fairly criticize him but anyone buying this is naive.

I personally think that's a massive downgrade.

Rees seems like the anti-Saban hire. No experience outside of Notre Dame, not a dynamic offense. Not a hot name.

Notre Dame wanted Rees gone as much as Alabama wanted BOB gone.

Yeah, there's something else with this than anything. If they made this hire Saban is definitely one foot out in retirement. Bama who can get almost anyone settles for an OC who isn't exactly great at ND and is close to being fired? I can't see it.

Only way I see this happening is if everyone is telling Bama no and that should be raising red flags for Bama fans.

ND Total Offense Rankings each year Rees was OC

2020: 27th, (448.5 YPG)
2021: 46th, (426.7 YPG)
2022: 60th, (396.2 YPG)

Certainly trending is a specific direction
