I have to say, looking at what Pitt did most of last year compared to what we trot out this year...there is very little resemblance

Elaborate. What did Pitt do that you expected to see that we didn't do?

Score points?

ETA: Which was a big point of emphasis with Canada in his introductory presser. He wasn't concerned about how many yards and whether they were passing or rushing: points was the name of the game.

My biggest criticism of him is that he's been too concerned about failing. Losing to MSU wasn't the end of the world. The team was facing serious personnel issues at the time. But, instead of weathering the storm of criticism, he seemed to react to something he didn't like (Canada) and made the situation worse.

Well said and IMO the single most legitimate criticism of Ed.

So, he must not be running his offense because he wasn't able to score points?

Yeah - we need to score points - we're not a good scoring team. Being a better scoring team would have reversed two of our losses and made 1 much more competitive (maybe win it - who knows?).

Totally agree.

We actually just saw that manifest itself yesterday with the FG at the 2 inch line. He gives inordinate amount of weight to the possibility of the negative outcome, to the point where he makes suboptimal decisions.

Additionally, he overreacts to the negative outcome when it happens as you pointed out. He's too focused on the immediate result and not a well-constructed process.

He was our interim OC in 2008 when we fired Tony Franklin. Worst offense Auburn’s ever had.

well look here man, this is LSU. Here you can have an awful history but if you promise us that you've changed, we'll give you a job you shouldn't be getting.

I don’t believe you ever truly saw his offense, some version of it maybe but it didn’t resemble much of what he’s done in the past.

Points back to the QB, no? I feel as if though you’re pretty intelligent and can understand that when you’re limited at QB, you’re limited at what your offense can do, correct?

Also, I’m not sure who posted it or where, but someone also said there was a rift between Canada and O because Canada had no interest in Etling. He wanted Brennan from the get go. I think that, even being the amateur eyes that we all are, could see the limitations at the position, regardless of his “solid” stats.

Right....so I can't really judge his offense when the QB he's running it with is dictated to him by the coach who knows dick about the offense

No argument from me with that. Etling just isn’t a playmaker that’s needed to win.

There will be two fresh QBs on the menu next year. We will be able to see what kind of trend there will be pretty early and if LSU is in for short term success or a long Texas/Tennessee goose chase

Wait for Alleva to say, the right man was here all along. Steve is who we wanted the whole time. We have our man.

I don't believe you...I think there is all kinds of e-panic on here. You should rally and go paint a rock or the mounds. Maybe LSU will let everyone vote on the next coach.

This exactly where i stand. When i realized that the university didn't really care about winning anymore, my interest began to diminish. Which sucks...

Thats not 'panic' its reality.

It reeks of an insecure person who knows that, on paper, he didn't deserve this job.

It's a weakness. But, it doesn't mean that he can't be successful...especially if you actually accomplish what you set out to do initially and hire a top flight offensive coordinator.
