There are certain promotions from within that many of us could get behind - Aranda to HC, Raymond to DC to run Aranda's D, maybe a new DL coach but keep everyone else and simply hire a new DB coach. I'd be very encouraged with that sort of promotion from within.

I think we would have been better off if people allowed Les Miles to promote Todd Monken from wr coach to o.c.
this kind of mentality is archaic. I guess Lincoln Riley should have never been promoted from o.c. to h.c. at O.U.
I'm not saying we should promote steve, however, the most important thing, if O is going to continue to be the coach, is for him to have someone he feels comfortable with and can trust. Otherwise, it will be Canada 2.0. It's the only way it could succeed. Telling the h.c. what to do and who to hire WILL NOT WORK.
With that said. I'm not fan of O, J.A., etc. I think the entire organization needs to be revamped.

the whole point of hiring O was to surrond him with the best assistants. hiring Ensminger as full time OC isn't in line with that.

Well the season is over and not much recruiting left. Coach O better be interviewing some OC's if there is no intention of keeping canada. If its Steve E. then what was the point of firing MIles? he could have promoted Steve E. to OC. Geesh!

I think even Alleva is savvy to that. He's trying to save his job by saving O's. Those two are now joined at the hip. If it gets to the point where Alleva is forced to fire O, he can't be far behind.

I would absolutely love to be wrong about this whole set up because if he fails, it will likely take years to build it back.
Unfortunately, after one season as the head guy I think you'd be a fool to not see why many doubted his ability to actually be the head of a program vs. what he did as the rah rah substitute teacher. There are a lot of qualities one needs to do it and O just doesn't really have them. Some are better foot soldiers than generals.
