Not necessarily. This year's offense that you hated was good enough to win 11 games. It had us in the lead late in the 4th quarter against Florida and up until the final play against A&M.
Despite Burrow being a consummate gamer, Ensminger's offense proved to be good at getting within field goal range and not much else. Thank god for Dave Aranda and the defensive staff, the Tiger D and improved special teams.

Pure propaganda.
As it was since 2012 w/Miles, so will it be under Orgeron. Elite talent everywhere, w/elite coaching on D and mediocre coaching on O.
When we have a kicker, we have a chance at a nice record and a NY6 bowl, but no shot at ATL.
Aleva/Orgeron have replaced the worthy goal of competing for championships with the feel good "goal" of 9 wins, and the propagandists have sold the "win total" narrative hard.
Based on the bulk of the commentary on this board, regarding "win totals", the propagandists have effectively indoctrinated most of the fan base.
This once proud program/fanbase has been brought to its knees. Its over, man.

re: RPO and the want to run them
Posted by blackmouthcur on 11/30/18 at 11:45 am to The Levee

The common misconceptions about the RPO aspect of offense are:
1. The Quarterback has to run the ball. In actuality, most RPO plays (aside from Power Read) are PRE-SNAP READ, SNAP, READ KEY, HANDOFF OR PULL AND THROW before the linemen get downfield.
The linemen are coached to block more laterally on RPO plays or to not extend blocks vertically, but rather engage and push not drive. These plays can use power/counter runs with pulling guards or zone blocking.
The Quarterback hardly ever keeps it in RPO. Look at Bama. He only runs on scrambles.
2. You need to commit at trust your offense and more importantly your Quarterback to make the right read on 2/3s of your plays. Most successful RPO teams fully devote 1st and 2nd down to the Quarterback reading the RPO effectively and keeping ahead of the chains.
3rd down is for playaction passes and a few drop back concepts. But the fewer reads and drop back passes the better. Have your Quarterback get used to reading one key.
I’m not saying that you can’t sprinkle in RPO into an established offense without success, but the potential is unleashed (like at Bama now and ole miss under freeze) when you devote 1st and 2nd down to your Quarterback making the right read.

Sullivan - gone. I thought this was common knowledge. Maybe i have been repeating it to myself all year??
T Rob - rumored to be looking for an NFL job. I am convinced that these changes are made waaaaay farther in advance that the average fan is aware.
Joseph - unless he reels in some significant recruits this year, he better update his resume.
Ensminger - does not want the position he is presently in. Personally, i am not sure he even moves back to TE coach. Analyst, or retires. He will agree to a small buyout, and move on.
TONS of room for a new OC to come in with his own people. Even without even mentioning Cregg. Coach O wants nothing more than to keep his dream job. He will make moves this offseason.
This is why i love the Coaching Changes Board....everyone knows everything, and everyone is wrong 99.9% of the time.
Yay!

2 facts
The facts support your opinion. We are, in most catagories, statistically among the very worst offenses in college football.
We so rarely have had depth of talent along OL, given the state's perennial lack of top prospects, that it has become a moot point. RB and R talent will take care of themselves, given the depth of skill in-state, yr in/out
However, we desperately need a QB whisperer to develop our talent, update our passing game concepts and recruit the vast talent pool in Texas.
Kkingsberry or Kbriles, take your pick.

No. Those assholes all live in La, but hate LSU. Piss on those losers. They can all go to hell.
re: Honest responses needed: What if the offense is putrid Sat?
Posted by blackmouthcur on 11/21/18 at 11:28 am to CharlesLSU
It wont be (putrid). Burrow will run RPO tempo out of 1-1, deep shotgun, zone read sets, hitting quick wr slants and te/hback pop passes short middle.
Connect on a couple of these to establish the threat, then hand off to CEH, Fornette or Provens, or qb keep off the read.
Take a couple intermediate/deep shots, per quarter, but keep everything else quick, fast and relentless.
We got this.

I'm actually fine with it for SE to finish out his contract.
But I think the plan needs to be to put the coOC in charge and the "co" part just be for formalities.
Then after next year, the "co" is taken out.

We're depending on an offensive system that requires superior offensive line play...which we have known we dont have, for some time now. Yet, we continue running into the goddamn stacked box! Stupid mthrfkg gd chit!
re: I think O wants a modern offense.

If Orgeron wants to hire the "best" coordinators, then he needs to be able to accept the position coaches that the coordinators need to hire to impliment their systems.
Im quite sure this was a major source of Canada's problem, being forced to retain the sub par rb, wr, te and ol coaches we had on staff at the time.
None of his position coaches had the expertise or experience to help him install his offense. Not one.
This was particularly true where the tobacco chawing, bourbon sipping, good ole boy over the te room, who had played interim OC the prior year, was concerned.
At his 1st press conference, Canada joked about Ensminger's untouchable, "favorite son" staus on staff. The rest, as they say, is history and therein lies the true beauty of the Ensminger hire.
Good, ole Steve is wholly and completely indifferent to the quality of staff with which Orgeron surrounds him. Its all good: HE'S OVER IT.

KB would pay immediate dividends, updating and diversifying our offense, bringing power spread concepts to our pro multiple.
An excellent QB coach, he could immediately assume Sullivan's duties as coco (passing game coordinator) and would work the state of TX for us as an ace recruiter (OL, QB, misc).
We are now flush with cash (milesexit), so we would be able to sweeten his deal, considerably, while increasing our stock of shadow staff.
KB would be a huge asset to EO, SE and the Tiger offense.

Must replace our pass game coordinator, Coach Sullivan, need to update offense and implement power spread concepts, would greatly benefit from a stronger recruiting presence in Tx.

re: Potential OC Shortlist
Posted by blackmouthcur on 11/6/18 at 11:28 am to Taylor62085
Orgeron is setting up SE to max out his retirement, once his contract expires at the end of next year.
Hiring a young, firebrand Co-OC at the end of this year, as an OC in waiting, makes perfect sense. It will be justified by both the exit of Sullivan and the weak statistical showing of the offense.
Look for K. Briles to get a full vote of confidence from both Applewhite and Kiffin, and come on board, possibly in time for post season play.

Our priority is to immediately get into Tua's head, then live there.
All they know is scoring, early and often.
Take away the intermed-deep explosive pass plays, while relentlessly pressuring Tua.
We'll adjust to the occasional set of run plays like we did, v UGa.
They will live and die with the "big play"; receivers running free, Tua w/time.
Shut. It. Down.
Make Tua beat you under extreme duress, both in terms of coverage and pressure.
