My top reasons are

1. The monster recruiting class
2. Michigan is far more than a 2-3 year project
3. He has the ability to be THE guy here at LSU, whereas Bo's shadow stands tall at Michigan.

edit:
4. The SEC: Currently the only conference where you can lose one game and still jump undefeated teams. THREE BIG TEN TEAMS had one loss, and none were even considered to jump anyone.

those are fair reasons...also, I think he and the family like it here, and at some point, uprooting your entire family is not worth it.

This is home to his kids? I know it wouldn't have been THE factor, but I'm sure it was somewhat in his mind.

He didn't get offered by Michigan and that's a fact, becoming clearer by the moment. Same as in 2007 when some people's hero didn't get offered.

As a family man myself, decisions can't always be about what you want, especially when kids are involved...If his kids are doing well, have good "quality" friends, etc., why leave? Les doesn't seem like the type of guy that chases money...His sincerity of family is one reason parents of 17-18 yr. olds feel comfortable putting their boys in his hands for their college career...

I think he wanted a guaranteed 6-8 years and they said woah buddy.

Of course I just made that up.

I think he wanted to hear what UM had to say, and had a want to feel wanted by Alleva and the brass at LSU. If he didn't like what he heard from LSU and did from UM he might have been gone.

I feel like this is one of the top reasons. UM has set the precedent that you have 3 years, and I don't think that's enough time to rebuild a big time program.

No matter the reason, I'm glad CLM is staying, and though I'll probably scream and yell when he makes some bonehead move (like I did at the first end of the Tenn game), I know those moments will be lesser than those that I am singing his praises.

I have it from a good source that this was the deal maker...

Your QB throws for less than 100 yards in four consecutive games and is about to lose his starting job. ESPN adds your QB to their poll of top QBs, no explanation can justify this except that ESPN hates LSU. Your fan base, who has been ripping the QB to shreds and booing him on the field, takes his back and votes until he wins the poll.
Which other fan base would do that?

Likely national championship in the next three years. If we can get an offense.

I asked the Michigan site what the deal is. I will post their response.

JMO, but I think this was a significant factor in the outcome of this situation. If his wife and kids weren't happy here they would be gone.
