Miles just can't do without the friendly, personal, low profile managerial service he gets at Voodoo BBQ.

He gets invaluable coaching advice on the Rant that he couldn't get at Michigan.

1. Family
2. If he runs the ship into an iceberg he is guaranteed an eight figure settlement.

Les was never leaving LSU. He was playing the game to get more power within his own program. He was never consulted over playing Oregon next year and the powers to be changed his coaches show from Walk-Ons to TJ Ribs without even asking. How do you think Saban or Meyer would react on these kind of things?

He kept things going in the news for a couple days for recruiting. LSU was all over ESPN on the day of the BCS national championship game. Every kid in the country now knows Les Miles will never leave LSU. Les played this perfectly. How many times over the past couple years do you think other coaches have told kids,"Les wont be at LSU if the Michigan job opens up. He is a Michigan man." Now that cant be said.

Glad he's staying at LSU, but let's not overpat ourselves on the back. My guess is that he wanted somethings from LSU and greater security and better than the one-year rollover.

Plus, the UM job is a rebuilding job and I think he sensed a greater committment to football at LSU over UM. UM won't do what other programs like Ohio State and most SEC teams will do for football. UM thinks of itself as Vandy with great football teams. The academic side at UM isn't as lenient as other big ten schools needed for a quicker fix.

I think he and the family like it here, and at some point, uprooting your entire family is not worth it.

This was a major factor imo.

On the other hand, at LSU, he'll always be viewed as a the guy who took the keys to the Ferrari that Nick Saban built. At Michigan he would be given full credit for building the Ferrari. I guess the challenge was too daunting for him. A lot of established coaches had turned down the opportunity to rebuild the Crimson Tide before Nick Saban decided that he was up to the challenge.

I never said it was low ball or less money than lsu. I said it wasn't as much as he wanted to make the change.

I'm guessing he wanted comparable salary to leave all the talent he has here, and obviously certain guarantees hed be given a fair chance (X amt of years) to rebuild.

After watching them boot RR with only 3 seasons under his belt I dont really blame Les, if that was the case.

I am surprised Michigan held back after all of that, "We'll do what it takes..." talk.

Miles must be happy @ LSU and told them what it would take to get him, whereupon they said, " "

Kind of like me with my '68 Chebby.

I'm glad he's staying!

Actually, he said Les wouldn't specify why he didn't take the job when he spoke to him. Schad said it would be "naive" to think it wasn't about money, which basically means he's still just speculating. Schad's opinion is about as valid as those found on the Rant at this point.

This is impossible. I know, because half the Rant has insisted that CLM is a bumbling idiot who couldn't coach the New England Patriots to a win over the Little Sisters of the Poor, at least, not without the only halfway redeeming quality he possesses, luck (which has replaced 'saban's players' since those dudes all matriculated out). These same people are now insisting that UM never even offered CLM, because everyone knows that he's lucky he doesn't spear himself in the eye with a fork every morning at breakfast because he's that fricking dumb, so I must conclude that IF anything in these events happened to fall in CLM's favor, they did so only because he's lucky NOT because he approached the situation with any kind of actual strategy or thought behind it.
